I agree that English is an international language. – P1, P2, etc.

(I agree that…, I disagree that…, I think that…)

- Latin is a dead language. (I agree that Latin is a dead language because nowadays nobody speaks it but several centuries ago a quarter of Europe used it.)
- Chinese is a very difficult language. (I agree because Chinese has thousand symbols and I know that Chinese learn them for all their live. It also has difficult pronunciation.)
- It is never too late to learn (I agree because nobody knows everything in the world as the progress and development don’t stop.)
- I can speak English easily about many things (Unfortunately I can’t agree because I haven’t learnt English perfectly. But I’ll try to do it and dream to speak it fluently).
- Learning English can be fun (I agree because there are many interesting educational games with the help of which you can study foreign languages).
- Russian is one of the most expressive and rich languages in the world (I partly agree. I consider that it was rich and powerful language at the times of Pushkin and Lermontov. But now it is not. As people say The Russian language is powerful but not great.)

I have some acquaintances who live and work abroad. They say that thanks to English and their brains they have good jobs, good money and their life is always sunny. Their jobs are: an engineer, a programmist, a shop assistant, a doctor. Answer my question, please. What professions dealing with English do you know?

Контроль домашнего задания: сообщения учащихся о профессиях, связанных с английским языком.

I would like to tell you about the profession of a linguist. I think people choose this profession because a knowledge of foreign languages and foreign cultures is growing in importance nowadays. Foreign languages are needed as the main and the most efficient mean of information exchange between the people of our planet. Although there are 3000 languages, English is the most universal. It is the language of progressive science and technology, trade and cultural relations, and business. It is the universal language of international aviation, shipping, sports, medicine. English is the official language in nearly forty countries. It is spoken by more than 350 millions people and also spoken as a second language in many parts of India and Africa. Besides, millions of people study English as a foreign language . In our country English is very popular. It is studied at schools, colleges and universities. As for me I learn English because I want to know what is going on round me in the world. With recent advances in technology, the world is changing rapidly in many fields, such as business, arts and medicine. These changes will affect me soon and its important for me to read and keep up with these changes. In fact, learning English is the answer to a lot of the things that I need and want. And I can’t help mentioning the quotation: “Every man is the maker of his own fortune.” In conclusion I would like to say it is an advantage to choose our future career while at school. It gives us a goal to work towards and enables us to choose a right, suitable course of study.

More and more people realize that every educated person should know a foreign language. Knowledge of a foreign language opens a new world for us. If you know a foreign language you can speak with foreigners and it is a way for better understanding. If you know a foreign language you can read books in the original and in way you can better understand other people’s nature and culture. It is very important for an economist to know a foreign language, especially English. That is because contracts between our country and many countries of the world are becoming wider with every coming day. Every economist has a chance to go abroad or to deal with foreign businessmen coming to our country. But to become a good economist one must work hard and get not only theoretical knowledge but also great practical skills.

4. Работа в парах.
