Работа представляет собой просмотр, анализ и систематизацию  образовательных возможностей школы для  изучения английского языка.

Обучающиеся воспользовались дополнительными источниками информации, такими как Интернет, You Tube c точки зрения их дальнейшего использования и применения в образовательной среде школы.

Учащиеся  систематизировали полученную информацию и представили ее в виде графиков, таблицы, картинок, перечня, примеров игр.

Тематика проекта является актуальной для старшеклассников, так как они уделяют много времени изучению иностранного языка, интересуются современными образовательными ресурсами, просматривают видеоролики, любят рисовать и хотели бы сделать что-то важное для своей школы. Ребята стремятся расширить свой кругозор и изучить возможности средств массовой информации в пределах образовательного учреждения.

  1. Hello, everybody! Glad to see you. Sit down, please. My name is Alexander and this is Ksenya and we are ready to start our  press conference devoted to the topic “Educational environment. English”. I see a lot of journalists here. We are ready to answer all your questions today. But at first we give some minute to Ksenya to tell us some words about today’s question.

  1. The group of pupils in our school has started the social project under the title “Educational environment. English”. The educational environment is everything that there is at our school. We think, everything should help children study. The educational environment includes teachers, students, parents, breaks, school’s rooms and their decoration, media. Your question, please.

3.Hello! My name is Yekaterina. I’m a representative of the school paper “Big city’s life”in English and I’d like to ask you why is this topic interesting for you.

  1. We have interviewed 70 our pupils and we asked them what do they want to change in our school?  And that is the result of our questionnaire. Most of them always put attention on the school’s walls. They read information on the notice boards, they like to play in breaks, to watch cartoons…And of course the most popular place at school is canteen for them. Children suggest decorating it with bright pictures. That’s why the theme of our project is “Educational Environment.” And we decided to connect this topic with the English language.

Why have you chosen this theme for your project?

We wanted

-to decorate our school canteen and make a difference;

-to make the process of  learning foreign languages more interesting and easier;

-to show the importance of learning of foreign languages and the difference between some cultures and languages;

-to put the attention of our schoolmates to the necessity to be tolerant nowadays;

And at last, we give the pupils extra opportunities for learning English because we live far from the English speaking countries and few of us have opportunities for traveling abroad. That’s why this topic was interesting for us.

3.What is the aim of your project?

  1. The aim is the study of the school opportunities for learning English for children and creating some extra for them.

3.And what about the tasks?

1.   - name the elements of the school educational environment;

    -determine what can we do to make it better;

    -name the things we need for that;

    -count everything;

    -find the group of children who wants to take part in our work;

    -distribute our roles and start to work.

4. Excuse me. I’m a representative of school paper “the 6th, hurray!” in Russian. My name is Katya, too. As far as I know, there are students of different ages at our school. What educational opportunities can you suggest for them? Are they different too?

2. There are different categories of pupils: primary, secondary and senior school children. That’s why we should use different opportunities for different categories of pupils.

We suggest including in the educational environment of our school:

- games in the breaks, cartoons on school TV, comics in English for little children;

- pictures, notice boards on the walls of our school and press for the teenagers;

-TV and video programs for the senior pupils.

The most favorite part of a school day is a break, of course. We may organize

games for children( lexical, grammar, phonetic and sport).

4.What sport games can you play at school? Who will do it?

  1. For example,
  • lexical games (with cards, crosswords)

We take a set of cards, mix them and put them on the table. The children turn over the cards and name the picture. If they take the same cards, they put them away. And the winner will be a person who will get the most cards.

       •sport games

For example, we ask children to remember the phrase "What time is it?" and to answer It is 1 o'clock, It is 2 o'clock  ... We choose Mr Wolf and his task is to find dinner. The children ask him “What time is it?" and he answers. The children come up to the wolf making as steps as Mr Wolf said. When the children next to him he says "It  is Dinner Time" and tries to catch somebody.

 Eatable – Uneatable The leader name the subject and through the ball. The children catch the ball and name the same subject in English or in Russian.

Monkey see, monkey do The leader names the verb and children do. It is possible to show the animals and the children try to guess them.

  • Phonetic games (tongue twisters are the best, find the rhyme)

       •Grammar games (with cards, bingo, auction, name the opposites, domino, cubes)

There are a lot of games for little children in different sources of information. You can find some of them  in the end of our paper work in added files. We have done it. We liked to play with little children. And we have a group of children in the 7th form  who would like to be a teacher.

And we can fill in the breaks with interactive games. The children choose the number of the question and answer it. If the child gives five true answers he or she can get excellent mark just before the lesson.

4.Nowadays the independent language learning becomes more popular. Some people think that it is not effectively but this way of learning has some good points, too. You can save your money and time, practice it when it is possibly and comfortable for you. There are a lot of methods, textbooks and services, thematic groups in social networks.

Are there any media at your school?

2. Yes, there are. A group of teenagers started to publish school paper in English. They wrote some articles, looked for interesting information in different sources, interviewed school children and released some free sheets. They have got some knowledge in the paper writing and publishing.

The most interesting and useful part for us in our work consist of TV and video releases and programs in the foyer of our school.

Our school TV transmits different Russian cartoons for little children and video of our school events. The children rested in the foyer and watch them. But it is only for  rest.

There are a lot of educational programs for different ages, short video movies, films and cartoons, video blogs in English. We have found some of them and transmitted them in the breaks at school. We suggest watching the following videos.

4.And what is your favourite one?

2.Children of the Z-generation are often heroes of the humour talk show of Ellen DeGeneres. The children have good sense of humour and in this video the speech is easy for understanding. It is very interesting to know what the children think about love, science, their country. The Ellen DeGeneres Show is one of the most popular evening show in the USA. It has more than subscribers on the Internet. Children are good at different gadgets but one day Ellen decided to show them gadgets of their parents. It is very funny to watch this show.

For some of children love is Lego game but others are tired of romantic and think about their future career.

We would like to transmit the most interesting news and programs. It is very useful for the senior pupils to practice English by listening and watching TV programs and videos.

Well, what about your school canteen? 

Did you redecorate it?

1. Some years ago the 11th form pupils have decorated our English classroom. They have bought some brushes and paints and we see the Houses of Parliament and famous Big Ben on the wall of our classroom.

We want to make a difference too. We determined the theme of our school exhibition in canteen “Food” and “Healthy Living Guide”, organized a group of 4 pupils to help with paintings, counted all necessary material and started to work.

We hope pictures on the wall will help small children to remember new words because they always put attention on something new and bright.

We used some sheets of paper size A3 and paints. We have lost 1500 rubles. We have decorated the walls of our school canteen with the names of some dishes.

We have made a difference and hope that it will help the little children to remember these words. That’s what we have!

4.Thank you very much. But one more question, please. What was the most difficult and the most interesting part of your work?

2. The environment should work for us. And we have a lot of opportunities for studying English language.

We have interviewed children, played with the young children, drawn the posters for our school canteen with the names of some food, released some newspapers and TV-promo.

The most interesting part of our work was connected with playing English games with children;

The hardest parts were:  making a report and drawing the posters.

But the most useful was the opportunity to practice speaking English more.
