Christmas Adventure

1. Introduction

Teacher: Good morning, dear boys and girls. Glad to see you again! We start our lesson, which is connected with a beautiful holiday, the most popular holiday in Great Britain. This holiday is the favorite holiday of all English children and grown-up persons. We will speak and read about this holiday, have a competition, write cards and sing a song. I hope you’ll enjoy our English lesson and be friendly to each other. I wish you good luck! Let’s start!
But first of all, I want you to listen to a short poem and guess what holiday we are going to speak about. This is mix of Russian and English. Listen to me!

Santa Clause стучит в дверь:
“Open, open поскорей!
Ему дети говорят: «Please, come in»
Он очень рад.
Видит он a Christmas tree,
И гирлянды, и шары.
А на самом на верху
Видит он a star – звезду.
“Do you like it?” – “Yes, we do!
Merry Christmas to you!”

Teacher:  What holiday are we going to speak about?
                We’ll speak about Christmas.

We sent the letter to Santa Claus. Santa has promised to make a special parcel for you before the Christmas night begins. But something went wrong and… we have no parcel! Let’s visit Santa Claus! We have a magic map. It will show us the way to Santa’s house.

Мы отправили письмо Санте с небольшой просьбой. Санта обещал выполнить её до наступления Рождества. Но что-то пошло не так…  Давайте отправимся к нему в гости? У нас есть «волшебная карта», но она показывает только до того, кто может подсказать дорогу.

(«УРА! ДАВАЙТЕ!»-  кричит радостный класс)

2. The 1st task

Teacher:  We need to get ready for the greatest English holiday of the year. The first task for is here. Look at the blackboard (На доске картинки рождественской тематики). There are а lot of symbols, things and words, which are connected with this holiday. What are they? You need to match the pictures and the words. If you are correctly match it.

Great! Oh! There is a prompt! Snowman knows the way!

3. The 2nd task (слайд 2)

Snowman: Hello kids! I will say you the way if you do my task. Do you remember when people celebrate Christmas? If you are ready, come to the blackboard and make up a sentence.

У детей должно получиться следующее из разрозненных карточек:

PEOPLE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS ON THE 25 OF DECEMBER.

Snowman: Good! The next person who knows the way is Mr. Grinch. Find him and ask the way.

Teacher: Well, let’s go and find him!

4. The 3rd task (слайд 3)

Mr. Grinch: Good morning and GO AWAY! Oh! Are you looking for Santa’s house? I will probably tell you the way, but you MUST answer my Questions!

Mr. Grinch: Well done, guys! Reindeers know the way! Find the reindeer!!!

5. The 5th task (слайд 4, слайд 5 финальная фраза)

Teacher:  Oh! That’s an interesting task! Stand up! Look around and find 9 reindeers!

(дети ищут оленей по классу)

Teacher:  What are their names? Name reindeers.

Pupils: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph…

(три имени зашифрованы в кроссвордах на жопках оленей)

Teacher:  Reindeers will tell the way if we guess and name their names! Solve the crosswords! Guess 3 reindeers names!

(решают кроссворд по рядам)

Teacher: Ok! What are the names of three other reindeers?

Pupils: Comet, Cupid, Vixen!

Reindeers: Good! You know our names! Find Elves! They show you the way!

6. The 6the task (слайд 6)

Santa’s Elves:  We will show the way! But before it you must sing the song with us! Take the sheets of paper and put the missing words!

(ученики слушают песню “Decorate The Christmas Tree”, заполняют пропуски)

Santa’s Elves:  Let’s check! And sing the song! Good kids! Let’s sing it! Oh! Here is Santa Claus!

7. Santa says!

Santa Claus:  Ho-ho-ho! I will give you your gifts. But you should play with me! Show the action I will ask you!

Santa Claus:  Oh! Take this parcel! There is something inside for you!

Teacher:  Thank you, Santa!

Pupils: Thank you, Santa!

8. The end

Teacher:  Teachers say thank you for the game! Don’t forget about your home task on Saturday! Good bye!
