        -Today we’ll travel to the Republic of Tyva.

Тhe Republic of Tyva

1. The Yenisei River.

1. The Republic of Tyva is situated at the merge of the rivers Bih-Khem and Kah-Khem which make the Yenisei River. The Yenisei is the longest river in Tyva. It is nearly 190 km.long. The banks of the Yenisei in our republic are painted brown on the map because of the mountains.  There are the taiga, forests, rocky mountains and steppes along the banks of the Yenisei.

The Yenisei flows from the East to the West in Tuva, then turns to the North into the territory of Krasnoyarsk region.      

The obelisk showing the Centre of Asia is situated in Kyzyl on the beginning of Yenisei.

2. Natural resources.

The Republic of Tyva is rich in mineral and natural resources. Major natural resources of Tyva include coal, iron ore, gold, asbestos and cobalt. The mineral resources are Salt lakes and mineral springs. There are no hydro-electric power stations in Tyva but the Republic gets the electricity from Krasnoyarsk region.

3. The big town of Tyva.

There are five towns in Tyva; Kyzyl, Chadan, Ak-Dovurak, Shagonar and Turan.  Kyzyl is the capital of Tyva. The town was founded in 1914. The first name of our town was Khem-Beldiri. The second name was Belotsarsk. Afterwards it was given the name Kyzyl.

Kyzyl is an economic, cultural and educational centre of our republic. The population is about 110.000 people. There are many interesting sights as Arat Square, the Obelisk "The centre of Asia" on the bank of the river Yenisei, the national museum, theatre and park.  

Kyzyl is also a multinational town. There are many schools, colleges, and Tuvan State University in Kyzyl. You can see many people from other countries in summer. They come from America, England every year. Kyzyl is a beautiful town.

4. The geography. The taiga.

Tyva is rich in different natural zones as the taiga, the steppe, the desert and the tundra. The taiga forests are very important for people and animals. The taiga is called the lungs of the planet. It covers 80% of Tuvan territory. There are a lot of wild animals in the taiga: bears, wolves, foxes, squirrels, sables, snow leopards and the others. The taiga forests give many useful things to people like food, clothes and medicine.

6.  Geography.The banks of the Yenisei.

1. The Yenisei, a great Siberian river, has its start at the joining of two rivers: the Biy-Khem and the Kaa-Khem.

2. The banks of the Yenisei in our republic are painted brown on the map because of the mountains.

3. There are the tayga, forests, rocky mountains and steppes along the banks of the Yenisei .
