Unit 3, Lesson 1

Тема урока:  Do you like travelling? (Любишь ли ты путешествовать?)

 Цели урока: 

• познавательная – обобщение социокультурных знаний о том,  где и как британские школьники проводят каникулы, знакомство с понятием «package holidays (tour)»;
• развивающая – развитие логического мышления, способности к догадке, формулирования выводов из полученной информации;

•   воспитательная – формирование у учащихся положительного отношения к фактам иностранной культуры, уверенности в себе и своих силах, осознание родной культуры через контекст культуры иноязычных стран, развитие умения сотрудничать;
• учебная – формирование лексических навыков говорения по теме «Путешествие и туризм»

Сопутствующие задачи: развитие умения читать с целью извлечения конкретной информации, совершенствование произносительных навыков

Речевой материал:

• продуктивный: лексический- an accommodation, a coach tour, a destination, an excursion, a guided coach tour, a destination, an excursion, on one 's own, package holidays/ tour, a resort, a travel agency;
•  рецептивный: лексический - a habit, a holidaymaker, a travel agent

Оснащение урока:

•  магнитафон, проектор

Используемые технологии: ИКТ технологии, метод проектов, обучение в сотрудничестве, дискуссии, мозговые атаки

Ход урока

1. Начало урока.

- Good morning, children! I am glad to see you.

- Good morning, teacher!

- What is the date, today?

- Today is the first of November.

- What is the day of the week, today?

- Today is Friday.

-  Who is absent, today?

- All are present.

2. Фонетическая зарядка. (слайд №2)

Учитель задаёт вопросы учащимся, побуждает их аргументировать свои ответы.

 A lot of people all over the world are fond of travelling. Modern life is impossible without travelling. Every day thousands of people travel either on business or for pleasure. Answer the questions and try to guess what we are going to speak about.

• Are you fond of travelling?
• What interesting places have you already visited?
• What means of travelling do you know?
• Which way of travelling do you prefer?
• What countries would you like to visit?

3.  Семантизация новых лексических единиц. (слайд № 3)

So, today we are starting to speak about travelling. More and more people now choose travelling for their holidays.

You will learn new words, new interesting facts, improve your speaking, listening skills and grammar. Have a look at the slide. Let’s read the words, translate some of them and be ready to answer my questions. Repeat after me and try to guess meaning of some words.  (учащиеся повторяют за учителем слова на слайде, переводят их и отвечают на вопросы)

1. Who is a holidaymaker?

A holidaymaker is a person who plans his holiday.

2. Where do people travel?

People travel abroad and around their country.

3. Have you ever been to a resort?

Yes, I have been to a resort this summer. We spent together with my family two weeks at the seaside. We got their by plane. We sunbathed and swam in the sea there. We visited sights of the city.

4. When do people fill in customs declaration?

People fill in customs declaration when they travel abroad.

5. How can people get to the place of their destination?

People can travel by bus, by plane or by train. I like to travel by train. Last holiday we travelled together with my family to the seaside by train.

6. What documents do people need for travelling abroad?

For travelling abroad people need a visa, a passport, customs declaration.

Работа с пословицами (слайд № 4) 

Now look at the slide and try to explain the proverbs. How can we translate them into Russian?  Let 's repeat after me.

There is no place like home (В гостях хорошо, а дома лучше)

East or west, home is best

The wider we roam the welcomer home

Учащиеся читают пословицы и пытаются вспомнить их эквиваленты на русском языке. Объясняют, чем они отличаются.

4. Совершенствование навыков чтения с извлечением конкретной информации  (Проверка домашнего задания).

At home you have read the text about the history of  British travel habits. Open your books on page 66, exercise 1(2). Let’s summarize the information, answer  my  questions:

1. How do British people usually spend their holidays?

Most British people spend their holidays away from home and many go abroad.

2. When did the travelling boom start?

The tourist boom starts in the 1960-s.

3. Where do British people prefer to go on holidays?

Most British people prefer to go on holidays  to warmer countries

4. What places are the most enjoyed destinations for British people?

Packages to Greece, Spain , Turkey, the USA and Australia are the favourite destinations for most British tourists abroad?

5. What reasons for travelling abroad do British give?
6. The main reasons are unreliable British weather, various tourist attractions and wonderful resorts.

 (Учащиеся по порядку отвечают на вопросы учителя, обобщают информацию. Во время ответа отрабатывается произношение новых слов и словосочетаний.) 

 5 Совершенствование произносительных навыков:

(Work in groups)

(слайд 5) More and more people now choose travelling for their holidays : Why do people travel? Let s begin to discuss in groups .Give reasons.

(Учащиеся проводят  обсуждение в малых группах) (слайд 6)Упражнение организуется в форме диалога. Соглашаются или не соглашаются с мнениями своих одноклассников

6. Физкультминутка  (слайды 6-11)

Now let’s have a rest. You’ll see pictures showing different means of travelling. Try to imitate them and pronounce. Repeat after me.

(Учащиеся видят на слайде способ путешествия и имитируют его)

1. We travel by plane.
2. We travel by train.
3. We travel by car. We travel so far.
4. We travel by ship.
5. We travel on foot.
6.   We travel hitchhiking. Let’s choose our route

Pre-listening task: Let 's improve your grammar: (Учащиеся вспоминают образование вопросов в настоящем простом времени)

Make up questions to ask your classmates about their holiday habits:

 1.Favourite /holiday destination/ your

2. Travel agency/ visit/ your parents

3. Always/travel agency/ your  parents/ visit

4 Holiday accomodation /prefer/ you

5 Favourite/ way of travelling/ your

Учащиеся выходят к доске, записывают вопросы,  

Look at the slide and answer : Why do people travel abroad? . (слайд 13)

Учащиеся отвечают на вопрос, выбирая подходящие аргументы.

While – listening task: A lot of British teenagers think that our life would be boring without travelling. Here are some holiday facts about British teenagers. Listen to the information about results of the survey and write down the words. Учащиеся слушают о результатах опроса британских школьников, восстанавливают пропущенные слова и по очереди проверяют

You will listen to the tape twice Exercise 3, page 67-68

After listening: Let's check this work. What can you say about British teenage habits?

What is more pros or cons going abroad? Divide  expressions into two groups.

• discover new places,
• miss your friends,
•  help to become more educated person,
• improve knowledge of foreign language,
• wait at airports,
•  depend on the weather,
• have to think about accommodation and food,
•  broaden your mind,
• many places are polluted,
•  teach people about art and culture,
•  the beauty of many places has disappeared,
•  help to relax,
•  beaches are always overcrowded,
• the most fantastic place is home,
•  meet interesting people,
• see world wonders

8. Проектная деятельность в группах.

Meet in groups to discuss your travel habits, answering the questions.

Учащиеся делятся на группы и проводят опрос. Каждая группа представляет результаты проведенного опроса. Затем на доске выводятся результаты класса по теме «Travel habits in 8 “A”»

1. Do you go abroad or somewhere in Russia on holidays?

2 Do you like to travel on your own or to have package holidays?

3 What is your way of travelling: by train(поездом) , by plane (самолетом) or by sea (по морю)?

Results:

Conclusion:

The pupils of the eighth form prefer to travel abroad by plane, on one 's own.

9. Подведение итогов урока. Домашнее задание

Our lesson is coming to an end.

1. What new facts have you learnt on this lesson?

We’ve  learnt the history of British travel habits, British teenage habits
