Should we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day in our country?

History
Last century, sweethearts of both sexes would spend hours fashioning a homemade card or present. The results of some of those painstaking efforts are still preserved in museums. Lace, ribbon, wild flowers, colored paper, feathers, and shells, all were put to use.
The custom of celebrating St. Valentine’s Day can be tread to those festivals, called Lupercalia. One was that the first person you saw on Valentine’s Day would be your valentine.
In Shakespeare’s time,
For Ophelia wanted to be «betime» at Hamlet’s window. She sang: «To-morrow is Saint Valentine’s Day, All in the morning betime, And I a maid at your window, To be your valentine !»
14 February has been considered a good Time to choose your lover because it is in the mating season of birds!
In Britain
Did you know?Traditionally men propose to women.In Britain, men often choose Valentine’sDay to make their marriage proposal.But on Valentine’s Day in a leap year women can propose marriage to their lovers!

This European tradition came to Russia too, but a lot of people say, «If you love somebody, you should show it every day, not only one day a year».
