It may look earthbound, but the simulator has sky-high virtual
reality at the flick of a button. You find by yourself seated inside

an exact copy of a plane cockpit. All the controls and switches can

be operated just so as they would be if you were flying a real plane.

You can feel it every movement of the aircraft. If the simulator

is asked to create dangerous weather conditions, everything shakes

dramatically and you are more glad you were shown how to fasten

the safety harness before taking off. If too rain is required, your

windscreen is soon too far wet to see out of. You hear life-like

sounds inside and outside the simulator and you accept without

question the fact that computers will create instant day or night for

you. Even real-life pilots regularly use to these simulators for

retraining. Every emergency such exercise can be practised in

complete safety but the fear on the pilots' their faces is real enough!

The experience is not very intended to be a sort of computerized

show. It is there to provide some training for those with who have

already flown up a light aeroplane and are thinking about becoming

pilots with larger commercial airlines.

Hello, and welcome to Safe in our hands, the programme that protects you, the consumer.

In March this year, Mr Kinner of Bolsover bought a new hi-fi system for £600 from Sound International. He paid the shop a £100 cash deposit, and signed a document to say he would pay £50 a month for the next ten months. He understood that after this the hi-fi system would be fully paid for. But at the end of the ten months, Mr Kinner received a new bill for £42.16 - the 'unpaid interest for the ten-month period'. He was away on business at the time, so his wife paid the bill. When Mr Kinner returned, he was very angry, and immediately contacted us. We phoned the manager of Sound International, and three days later, Mr Kinner received a cheque for £42.16, and a free Walkman personal stereo.
