Family His f ather was an attorney Pierre Verne (1798-1871), wh o came from the Provence family of lawyers. Mother ,S ophie Allotte de la Fuÿe (1801-1887) was a Scottish . She was born in Briton. Jules Verne was the first child of five.(1842). His wife was a widow with two children. May 20, 1856, Jules Verne went to to a friend's wedding, where he met Honorine for the first time. Eight months later, on 10 January 1857 they got married and settled in Paris. Four years later, on 3 August 1861, Honorine had a son Michel (d. 1925), their only child.
Education and Work The son of a lawyer, Verne studied law in Paris, but the love of literature led him to take a different path.
