Пояснительная записка

        Методические указания по выполнению самостоятельной работы (далее методические указания) составлены в соответствии с рабочей программой дисциплины ОГСЭ.03 Иностранный язык.

        Содержание методических указаний соответствует требованиям Федерального государственного образовательного стандарта среднего профессионального образования по специальности 21.02.01 Разработка и эксплуатация нефтяных и газовых месторождений .

        Целью методических указаний является оказание помощи обучающимся в выполнении самостоятельной работы по учебной дисциплине ОГСЭ.03 Иностранный язык.

        Задачами методических указаний по организации самостоятельной работы являются:

        - активизация самостоятельной работы обучающихся;

        - определение содержания самостоятельной работы обучающихся;

        - установление требований к различным формам самостоятельной работы;

        -определение порядка выполнения самостоятельной работы обучающимися;

        - формулирование методических рекомендаций по выполнению самостоятельной работы.

        Методические указания состоят из карты самостоятельной работы обучающегося, порядка выполнения самостоятельной работы обучающимися, инструкции по выполнению различных видов самостоятельной работы, методических указаний по выполнению, списка рекомендованной литературы.

        В карте самостоятельной работы указаны:

        - номер самостоятельной работы;

        - наименование темы по которой запланировано выполнение самостоятельной работы;

        - наименование самостоятельной работы;

        - вид работы;

        - количество часов на выполнение;

        - формы контроля;

        - формируемые общие компетенции (ОК).

        Для выполнения самостоятельной работы рекомендуется пользоваться конспектами занятий, учебной литературой, которая предложена в списке рекомендуемой литературы, Интернет-ресурсами или другими источниками по усмотрению обучающегося.

        При освоении учебной дисциплины предусматриваются различные виды самостоятельной работы обучающегося:

  1. для освоения теоретических знаний:

- чтение текста (учебника, первоисточника, дополнительной литературы и т.д.)

- получение информации с использованием словарей и справочников;

2) для закрепления и систематизации полученных знаний:

- анализ учебного материала;

- выполнение грамматических упражнений;

- поиск литературных источников, их систематизация; изучение и обобщение литературного материала (учебников, пособий, первоисточников, электронных ресурсов, аудио- и видеозаписей);

- составление плана и тезисов монологического высказывания, сообщения;

3) для формирования компетенций:

- выполнение упражнений по образцу;

- подготовка к практическим занятиям;

- подготовка и оформление презентаций, в том числе в электронной форме.

Выполнение самостоятельной работы обучающихся оценивается и фиксируется в журнале учебных занятий группы на календарный учебный год.

В дальнейшем методические указания могут быть переработаны при изменении Федеральных государственных образовательных стандартов среднего профессионального образования.

  1. ПОРЯДОК ВЫПОЛНЕНИЯ САМОСТОЯТЕЛЬНОЙ РАБОТЫ ОБУЧАЮЩИМИСЯ

2.1 Инструкции по выполнению различных видов самостоятельных работ

1. Работа с конспектом.

Работа с конспектом заключается в том, что в период между очередными практическими занятиями необходимо изучить грамматический материал, представленный на учебном занятии: основные определения выучить, непонятные положения конспекта выделить и выяснить у преподавателя на очередном занятии, предусмотренном учебным планом. При необходимости изучить соответствующий раздел учебника или учебного пособия.

2. Выполнение упражнений.

Выполнение упражнений начинается с изучения грамматического правила   на основе которого выполняется упражнение. Ознакомиться с заданием упражнения, изучить образец выполнения задания (если предъявлен), записать правильный вариант ответа в рабочую тетрадь.

3.. Чтение и перевод текста.

Работу над текстом необходимо начать с его прочтения, затем следует выделить и выписать незнакомые лексические единицы. Следующим этапом является перевод данных лексических единиц на русский язык с помощью англо-русского словаря и конспекта практического занятия. Для быстрой ориентации при работе со словарем нужно прежде всего хорошо знать алфавит. Следует помнить, что порядок размещения слов на одну букву также организован по принципу алфавита внутри слова до последней буквы. Необходимо разбираться в условных обозначения, знать исходную форму слова.

При переводе необходимо помнить про порядок слов в английском предложении и обращать внимание на видо-временную форму глаголов. Каждое слово из предъявленного в самостоятельной работе текста необходимо узнавать, т. е. помнить его написание, произношение и значение.

После выполнения перевода необходимо несколько раз прочитать текст вслух.

4. Составление плана и тезисов монологического высказывания, сообщения, рассказа.

Сообщение – это небольшой доклад, содержание которого представляет информацию по изучаемой теме. Составляя сообщение рекомендуется придерживаться следующей последовательности действий: выбрать тему сообщения; изучить тему по учебнику (необходимо использовать основную и дополнительную литературу, допускается использование ресурсов сети Интернет); вычленить основные идеи выступления; тезисно составить план сообщения, выделив его ключевые моменты; подготовиться к выступлению на иностранном языке.

Рекомендуемый объем сообщения / монологического высказывания на английском языке (включая вступление, основную часть и заключение) составляет 20 – 25 распространённых предложений.

5. Составление диалога.

Начать работу над составлением диалога на английском языке необходимо с повторения лексических единиц по изучаемой теме.  Изученную лексику (слова, фразы, выражения) по теме нужно применить при составлении диалога. Важно помнить о правилах образования различных видов вопросительных предложений в английском языке.

6. Ответы на вопросы по тексту.

Для правильных и четко сформулированных ответов по тексту необходимо прочитать и корректно перевести текст. Выделить наиболее важные и информативные аспекты в тексте. После этого следует отвечать на вопросы последовательно, используя информацию, выделенную ранее.

  1. Написание реферата

Выполнение реферата должно иметь логически-обусловленную последовательность: определение темы; поиск, изучение и систематизация отобранных материалов (необходимо использовать основную и дополнительную литературу, допускается использование ресурсов сети Интернет); составление плана работы; написание текста; оформление реферата. Писать текст нужно самостоятельно на основе собранных и обработанных материалов в соответствии со структурой реферата, которая включает в себя титульный лист, оглавление, введение, основную часть, заключение, приложение, список литературы и источников.

       Требования к оформлению реферата: на титульном листе указывается тема реферата и автор работы, введение не должно превышать 1 страницы,  реферат оформляется в MS Word любой версии, все поля - по 20 мм, шрифт основного текста: Times New Roman, размер шрифта основного текста: 14 пт., межстрочный интервал:  полуторный, выравнивание текста -  по ширине.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Britain forms the greater part of the British Isles, which lie off the northwest coast of mainland Europe. Great Britain is separated from the Continent by the English Channel. “Great Britain” is a geographical expression, but “The United Kingdom” is a political expression. The full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain comprises England, Wales and Scotland. It is in fact the biggest of the group of islands which lies between the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

The population of the United Kingdom is 60 million people.
The British Isles today are shared by two separate and independent states. The smaller of these is the Republic of Ireland, with its capital in Dublin. The larger, with London as its capital, is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This long title is the result of a complicated history. The Island of Great Britain contains three “nations” which were separated at earlier stages of their history: England, Scotland and Wales. The United Kingdom is a name which was introduced in 1801 when Great Britain became united with Ireland.

The largest and most densely populated part of the U.K. is England. Scotland is the northernmost part of the Island of Great Britain. It is divided into 3 parts: the Highlands, the Lowlands and the Southern Uplands. The well-known lake, Loch Ness is there. The capital is Edinburgh.
In 1536 Wales was brought into the English system of national and local government by the Act of Union. It is a highland country of old, hard rocks. The capital of Wales is Cardiff. The Welsh are fond of folk music, singing and poetry. Welsh literature is one of the oldest in Europe.

The USA

The USA consists of 50 states and the District of Columbia, the nation’s capital.
Some states are famous for their busy cities. Other states are known for their tree-covered mountains. Still others consist of miles and miles of rich farmland.
Alaska is the largest of all the 50 states. The USA is a very large country, so it has several different climate zones.

Australia is a land of birds and animals which cannot be found in other parts of the world. The koala is one of Australia’s most famous and best-loved animals. The koala lives on leaves alone.
There are native trees such as the eucalyptus and the bottle tree. They never lose their leaves in winter.
Agriculture is the main occupation in Australia. Australia is famous for its sheep. The great sheep-farms are called sheep stations. They are found in many parts of the country.

The capital of Canada is Ottawa. Other big towns are Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
Canada is rich in metal ores, oil, gas, and the metal, machine-building, automobile and ship-building industries are highly developed.
Canada’s main agricultural products are wheat, meat, some kinds of fruit, especially apples, and dairy products. Canada’s fishing industry is still important on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Canada’s large ports are Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax.

New Zealand

New Zealand is situated southeast of Australia. The country consists of three large islands, called North Island, South Island and Stewart Island, and many other small islands.
New Zealand is a mountainous country. The Southern Alps, the highest New Zealand mountains, lie near the west coast of South Island. The central part of North Island is a high volcanic plateau. There are many lakes in this part of the island. New Zealand’s rivers are short.
The climate in New Zealand is warm. There are good forests of evergreen trees and large areas of rich grasslands. New Zealand has very few native animals.
New Zealand’s natural resources are not rich – timber, coal, natural gas, iron ore, and some others.
The majority of the population are of British origin, but there are small groups of Chinese, Indians, Dutch, Greeks and Poles. The Maori people make up eight percent of the total New Zealand population. The Maoris are famous for their folk songs, music and dances; they are very skilled in woodwork.
Two-thirds of the total area of New Zealand are devoted to agriculture and animal husbandry.
New Zealand is mainly self-sufficient in horticultural products and exports some of these, such as apples and honey.
New Zealand has an excellent shipping system. There are educational and cultural institutions such as universities, colleges, museums, theatres, libraries and others.

1) It is built in the calm style of a classic Greek temple. The design of this classic temple symbolises the Union. The splendidly carved marble figure of the murdered president inside the building, reminds people of the drama of the Civil War and the horror of the shooting in Ford’s Theatre. This Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day May 30, 1922.

2) It is a building where the headquarters of the Department of Defence, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are located. It was built between 1941–1943. It is the largest office building in the world. Inside the yard there is a subway station and two helicopter pads. It has a special 5-point shape.

3) It is the seat of the government of the USA. The corner stone of this building was laid by George Washington on September 18, 1793. It is in the centre of Washington and it’s the highest point in the city. It is the seat of Congress.

4) It is the centre of the theatres and night life. It is a city that never sleeps. There are many restaurants which never close. There are cinemas with films that start at midnight. It is known as “The Great White Way”.

1) It is a newly erected building where Winter Olympic competitions in figure-skating and ice-hockey took place. The closing ceremony of the 1988 Olympic Games was held in this building. Here 17,000 spectators were able to watch the competitions.

2) It is a splendid suspension structure. It links the city of Vancouver to North and West Vancouver at the First Narrows of Burrard Inlet and two bridges cross the Second Narrows. The figures of the bronze lions standing on both side of the entrance to it seem to be guarding it.

3) It is the second largest manufacturing centre of Canada. There are some places of interest in it such as the City Hall, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Royal York Hotel, and Exhibition Park. It is an important centre of air transportation.

Television unifies us

  1. The press, television and radio (mass media) play an important part in the life of the society. They influence the way people look at the world and make them change their views. 3. There is also a lot of advertising on TV. A lot of commercial firms buy the time to advertise their goods. Advertising often annoys the general public. A film, a good basketball or football match may be interrupted several times with advertisements for the soap powder or new perfume. To convince the viewers that a certain product is the best and to persuade him to buy it takes not only a lot of imagination but also a lot of time. The same advertisements are repeated dozens of time every day, which bores the viewers. 

4. Some people say there is too much violence on television, which has a bad influence on viewers, especially young people. Television often shows scenes of violence.

 5. But it is hardly fair to say that TV doesn`t try to raise the cultural level of the people or develop their artistic taste. Many of TV programmes are excellent: they are made in good taste and with great professional skill. Television brings into millions of homes not only news and entertainment, but also cultural and educational programmes. Good or bad, television brings the world into our home and makes us closer to other people. Besides, it is a good company for people who live alone.

Russia is also a major producer of natural gas.

The discovery and development of oil and gas deposits in the Volga, Urals, and Timan-Pechora areas led to a significant increase in the volumes of oil extraction in the first half of the 20th century. The development of major basins in Siberia, Timan-Pechora, the Caspian, and the Far East resulted in a record quantity of oil being extracted in 1988. Extraction levels fell at the beginning of the 1990s, but are now once again on the increase.

The oil industry plays a significant role in Russia’s macroeconomy, investment environment, infrastructure development, politics and foreign policy.

Given its central role in the economy, it is logical that oil is a significant driver of both domestic and foreign investment.

The Russian oil industry presents tremendous opportunities for firms, particularly in areas of engineering services, technical consulting and finance (raising capital, auditing).

Oil and gas are more than commodities and are also, tools of international power, components of foreign policy, elements of national security and a source of national pride.

Gas industry of the country is still a system-forming industry. It moves towards new economic relations following its own way, which is absolutely different from that of oilmen, coal miners or power engineers. The most important task set for the gas industry for the present is to be a reliable guarantor of supplying gas in required volumes, in due time and in due place both inside Russia and to European countries.

Gas industry not only stabilizes economy it also can initiate a breakthrough into a new technological era and facilitate deep structural transformation of the economy.

Russian gas industry is reach in unique industrial production experience, qualified stuff, it has assumed a position of a strategic operator on solvent gas markets in Europe, it disposes of colossal reserves of hydrocarbons, a unique natural resource base that, when reasonably used, ensures successful development of the industry for the next decades. 
Russia plays a significant part in the formation of world prices owing to the large volumes of oil and gas that Russia supplies to the world market.

From the History of Petroleum

 

Petroleum and natural gas have been known to man long before our era. Petroleum production on an industrial scale, however, was started only a little more than one hundred years ago, while the production and use of natural gas - only in the present century.

Petroleum and gas can be found escaping from rocks in many places all over the world. Such occurrence of petroleum and gas are mentioned in the writings of Herodotus (5th century B.C1.), Plutarch, Pliny the Elder, Marcus Vitruvius (1st century A.D2.).

Formerly, petroleum was extracted by most primitive methods, i.e. by digging wells to the petroliferous strata where the petroleum was still in the liquid state. Cases are known when surface seepages of petroleum were so considerable that it accumulated in the depressions of the relief forming petroleum lakes. But in these cases the petroleum with time lost its volatile components and turned into asphalt. As can be seen from ancient historical documents the use of petroleum as fuel dates back to extremely early times. Not only liquid petroleum but asphalt was also used as fuel.

The use of petroleum in early times refers to the Apsheron peninsula and other regions of the Caspian shores which abounded in petroleum and where there was the deficiency of other kinds of fuel (coal, peat, wood), this forced the inhabitants to use petroleum as fuel for heating their dwellings, cooking purposes, etc.

We learn that petroleum had been used for illumination in the countries adjacent to the Caspian and the Mediterranean Seas as far back3 as several centuries B.C.

Natural Gas

 

Natural gas is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons and nonhydrocarbons that exists as a gas at atmospheric conditions. It is inflammable and occurs in the earth's crust with or near accumulations of crude oil. Its principle component is methane. This is a compound which is often found in nature in marshy places, so it is sometimes called “marsh gas”. There are also smaller amounts of ethane, propane, butane in natural gas.

Any sample of natura1 gas is likely to contain one or more of the following components: water vapour, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, helium, carbon disulphide.

The volume occupied by a quantity of natural gas is inversely proportional to the absolute pressure exerted upon it, if temperature is held constant.

The volume is directly proportional to its absolute temperature if the pressure is held constant. Accurately to define a volume of gas it is necessary to define the conditions of pressure and temperature at which it is measured.

Natural gas is a valuable raw material. It is also widely used as fuel for domestic and industrial needs.

Exploration Methods and Techniques

From the drilling of Drake's well in Pennsylvania in 1859 until far into the twentieth century, wells were sunk close to seepages - what is now known as "seepage drilling” - but there was no exploration in the modern sense until geology was applied to the finding of oil in the late nineteenth century. In 1885 several new fields were discovered on the basis of the theory that oil accumulates in the crests of folded rock layers, known to geologists as anticlines.

The first employment of a geologist by an oil company appears to have been in 1897, but not until the discovery of the Cushing Field, Oklahoma, in 1912 as a result of geological survey did geologists enter the industry in any numbers. Soon afterwards, however, many hundreds were roaming all over the USA and other countries in search of anticlines. The period from 1912 to 1925, during which most of the principal anticlines in the USA were discovered, is known as the "anticlinal period", the end of which marks the beginning of modern scientific exploration.

The objective of any exploration venture is to find new volumes of hydrocarbons at a low cost and in a short period of time. Exploration budgets are in direct competition with acquisition opportunities. If a company spends more money finding oil than it would have had to spend buying the equivalent amount "in the market place" there is little incentive to continue exploration. Conversely, a company which manages to find new reserves at low cost has a significant competitive edge since it can afford more exploration, find and develop reservoirs more profitably, and can target and develop smaller prospects.

The usual sequence of activities once an area has been selected for exploration starts with the definition of a basin. The mapping of gravity anomalies and magnetic anomalies will be the first two methods applied. In many cases today these data will be available in the public domain or can be bought as a "non exclusive" survey. Next, a coarse two-dimensional (2D) seismic grid, covering a wide area, will be acquired in order to define leads, areas which show for instance a structure which potentially could contain an accumulation. A particular exploration concept, often the idea of an individual or a team will emerge next. Since at this point very few hard facts are available to judge the merit of these ideas they are often referred to as "play". More detailed investigations will be integrated to define a prospect; a subsurface structure with a reasonable probability of containing all the elements of a petroleum accumulation.

Eventually, only the drilling of an exploration well will prove the validity of the concept. A wildcat is drilled in a region with no prior well control. Wells may either result in discoveries of oil and gas, or they find the objective zone water bearing in which case they are termed "dry".

Exploration activities are potentially damaging to the environment. The cutting down of trees in preparation for an onshore seismic survey may result in severe soil erosion in years to come. Offshore, fragile ecological systems such as reefs can be permanently damaged by spills of crude or mud chemicals. Responsible companies will therefore carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) prior to activity planning and draw up contingency plans should an accident occur.

Air lift uses compressed air to lift water in operations such as dredging and underwater archeology. It is also found in aquariums to keep water circulating. These forms of lift were used as far back as 1797 in mines to lift water from mine shafts. These systems used single point injection of air into the liquid stream, normally through a foot valve at the bottom of the string. Gas lift was used as early as 1864 in Pennsylvania to lift oil wells, also using compressed air, via an air pipe bringing the air to the bottom of the well. Air was used in Texas for large-scale artificial lift. In 1920 natural gas replaced air, lowering the risk of explosion. From 1929 until 1945 about 25000 patents were issued on different types of gas lift valves that could be used for unloading in stages.[2] Some of these systems involved moving the tubing, or using wireline sinker bars to change the lift point. Others were spring operated valves. Ultimately, in 1944 W.R. King patented the pressurized bellows valve that is used today. In 1951 the sidepocket mandrel was developed for selectively positioning and retrieving gas lift valves with wireline.

Gas lift or bubble pumps use the artificial lift technique of raising a fluid such as water or oil by introducing bubbles of compressed airwater vapor or other vaporous bubbles into the outlet tube. This has the effect of reducing the hydrostatic pressure in the outlet tube vs. the hydrostatic pressure at the inlet side of the tube.

In any case, the viscosity of water in many times greater than that of gas. It is known that the greater  the viscosity of the displacing agent in relation to that of the oil, the greater is oil recovery.

Критерии оценки:

-        оценка «отлично» выставляется обучающемуся, если задания выполнены в полном объеме,    содержание ответов отражает все аспекты, указанные в задании орфографические и пунктуационные ошибки отсутствуют;

-        оценка «хорошо» выставляется обучающемуся, если задания выполнены в полном объеме,    содержание ответов отражает все аспекты, указанные в задании, орфографические и пунктуационные ошибки практически отсутствуют (допускается не более 2-х негрубых лексико-грамматических    ошибок;

-        оценка «удовлетворительно» выставляется обучающемуся, если задание выполнено не  полностью:   содержание    отражает не все аспекты, указанные    в    задании (более одного аспекта раскрыто не полностью или один аспект полностью отсутствует). Имеются лексические и грамматические  ошибки,   не   затрудняющие понимания текста (допускается не более 4-х негрубых лексико-грамматических    ошибок);

-        оценка «неудовлетворительно» выставляется обучающемуся, если задание не выполнено: содержание не отражает тех аспектов, которые указаны в задании,  или/и не соответствует требуемому объёму, допущено множество    лексико-грамматических ошибок.
