Celebrate the colors and textures of fall with this fun and creative Autumn Tree Craft!

There are several ways to make this project, depending on which templates you choose and how hands-on or messy you want to get. You can:

  1. Print the Trunk and the Leaves and paste them together.  (Like the picture to the right.)
  2. craft instructionsprint the Leaves and decorate a "homemade" trunk (to make the trunk, trace your child's arm from the elbow up, including the fingers, like the picture to the right.)
  3. Print the trunk and decorate with "handprint" leaves (fingerpaint)
  4. Fall tree craft with real fall leavesYou can also go outside and collect real fall leaves and paste those on like the picture to the right.

Materials:

  • printer,
  • paper,
  • scissors,
  • glue,
  • something to colour with,
  • You will also need fingerpaints if you choose the third option.
  • You will need to collect some leaves from outsite if you choose the fourth option.

Craft Instructions:

  • Print out the craft template of your choice.
  • Color the pieces as you like. For a fun twist, try using materials you don’t usually use... paints, pastels, or markers can give your leaves a special look. Smudged pastels make especially pretty fall leaves!
  • Cut out the pieces. This step might need some adult help. Don’t worry about cutting the tree branches perfectly, any leftover white space will be covered with leaves later.
  • Put your craft together by gluing the template pieces, or create handprint leaves if you chose that alternative.

  • Optional: Glue your finished tree onto a decorated background. Blue construction paper for the sky, green tissue paper for grass, and white cotton balls for clouds make a delightful scene!
