A letter to my region (written by one of my students)

Воронов Сергей Валентинович

My dear Krasnodar region!

I’m writing this letter to you, my Motherland. I want you to know how much I love you and how happy I am  because I live here.

15 years ago I was born here, where my parents and all my relatives live. Let me tell you how nice you are.

You have varied landscape: superb mountains, splendid coastline, blue Black sea, unlimited meadows, wheat fields and green forests. You are  unique in your faunal diversity.

Your  landscape offers us great opportunities for activities such as walking, riding, cycling, sailing, golf, climbing, skiing, skateboarding, surfing. You will be the host of the Olympic games and I’m proud that all the world will know about it.

Our region does not stop us admiring its historical past. It has great content: a lot of places are associated with glory and victory of the Russian soldiers during the Great Patriotic War, for example, Malaya Zemlya in Novorossiysk. There we can honour those who served their country best.

The Kuban national songs made great contribution to the Russian  culture. It will be a great treat to listen to the famous Kuban choirs and the national musical instruments. It is the real land of songs. A lot of theatrical performances and festivals take place every year in Ataman, which opens its gates to the tourists  at the Azov Sea coast.

The Krasnodar region is famous for its cuisine:  everybody will certainly appreciate the Russian borshch and pelmeni here.

I’d like to take some aspects of our character from a fascinating point of view. Common sense and family values are bred into every native. Here we have a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and  are renowned for offering people a warm welcome.

 My dear Krasnodar region!

I want to call you gently “ My small Motherland”. I’m sure that you are the most wonderful thing ever existed in my life.
