Развивающая: развивать навыки диалогической речи

Воспитывающая: воспитывать чувство толерантности, терпимости к мнению других

Good morning. I’m glad to see you again.

Today we’ll try to decide what the best way to learn about what is happening in the world is. That’s why I want you to look at the slide to meet the theme of our lesson

TV, RADIO, NEWSPAPERS (MAGAZINES) OR INTERNET?

But first of all let’s train our tongues. Repeat after me, please.

[ou] – radio, programme, video, show

[oi] – tabloid, annoy, enjoy

[æ] – channel, advert, fantastic, national, scandal, international

[ei] – amazing, daily, newspaper, information

[ju:] – computer, news, opportunity, use

I agree with all of you. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the problem, because nowadays we have a lot of sources of information and can’t choose the right one. That’s why I want you to help everyone to decide what is the best:

TV, RADIO, NEWSPAPERS (MAGAZINES) OR INTERNET?

Now look at the slide and say which of the mass media are:

  • The most useful
  • The easiest to use
  • The most common
  • The most expensive
  • The most modern
  • The most interesting
  • The most convenient
  • The safest
  • The cheapest

Give your reasons.

Example: I think newspapers are the most convenient mass media. It is broken to my home                 every day. I can get a lot of useful information from newspapers.

And now answer my questions:

  1. Which media is the most popular in your family?
  2. Have you got a radio?
  3. How many televisions do you have at home?
  4. Who in your family watches TV more than others?
  5. Who in your family surfing the Internet more than others?
  6. Who in your family reads newspapers and magazines more than others?

The next task is for you:

    Think of the advantages and disadvantages of the different mass media. Give your reasons.

Use: to rest, to relax, to receive information, to listen (to read) about famous people, important events, to study foreign languages, to take part in shows and competitions, to get something for nothing, to travel round the world without wasting money, to study at home, to find new friends.

       it’s a waste of time, to have no time to communicate with relatives and friends, to damage your eyes, to get lazy, to put on weight, to have no time for sport activities in the fresh air, to learn about the bad side of life, to get nervous, to sleep badly after horror films

To make up your own dialogues we should remember some phrases. Use them to decide in your dialogues what is the best:
