Task 2

Form words matching the context

Russia, the largest country in the world, is big, comprising (1) rough 1/6th of the world's land mass. Russia is primarily a northern country, with most of Russia located above 50° latitude--St. Petersburg is the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska.  Thus, Russia tends to resemble Canada more in terms of climate.  This means that the (2) agriculture growing season tends to be short, limiting the types of crops that can be grown.

Most of the land consists of vast plains:  steppe to the south, taiga in the center; tundra to the north.  This vast Eurasian plain, stretching from the Pacific Coast all the way into Central Europe, is broken only by the Ural Mountains in the middle. Because of their low (3) high they have never really been a barrier to travel or (4) invade.  There are mountain ranges along the southern border of Russia.

Although Russia possesses a very long coastline—(5) most along the north.

Writting

Some people argue that vast sums of money should be spent to explore space. Others argue that it’s better to solve earth’s problems before going out to space. Write an essay telling which position you agree with and why.

You have to write 70 - 100 words.
