This museum has been based in 1835 by the known master of wax figures of Paris Mary Tusso .

Madam Tussaud , it Maria Tussaud , was born in 1761 in the city of Strasbourg in France. In the same place it also has got acquainted with art of a sculpture from wax owing to the employer of her mother. The known doctor, Phillip Curtis, was one of the first who has started to create works of art from wax, and in 1776 even has opened the first exhibition. It was necessary to young Maria on customs of a hobby of the doctor, and already in 16 years it has created the first sculpture from wax. It was the statue of a protruding French writer and the philosopher of an epoch of education Francois Voltera .

In further its collection constantly replenished, the first constant exhibition of madam Tussaud managed to be opened only in 1835 , in London. The glory to it was brought with " the Cabinet of Horrors » which it has exposed in a museum in 1845. The cabinet of Horrors represented a collection of posthumous masks, which madams Tussaud has made of victims of a guillotine which executed in Paris during the French revolution.
