Tornado is a very violent wind in the form of a funnel of air that spins at great speed.

Tornadoes come in many shapes and sizes, but they are typically in the form of a visible condensation funnel, whose narrow end touches the earth and is often encircled by a cloud of debris and dust.

The most extreme tornadoes can attain wind speeds of more than 300 miles per hour (483 km/h)

Tornadoes are especially dangerous to people in cars or mobile homes. Tornadoes can happen in nearly any part of the world. In the United States, a tornado has been created in all states. The middle part of the United States i s nicknamed 'Tornado Alley' for the large amount of tornadoes created there.

To keep safe in a tornado, here are some tips you can follow:

1.Go to the lowest floor of the building. Stay close to the center of the building and away from windows.

2. Find a piece of strong furniture or a mattress to go under or hide in a closet and wait until it is over.

3.If you are in a school, do not go to the gymnasium or any other place that has a high ceiling. Squat near the wall, placing your hands on the back of your head.

4.If you cannot find shelter, find the lowest, most protected ground and cover your head with your hands.

Almost all tornadoes happen in the United States. They happen most often during spring and early summer. Tornado watchers can give warnings about conditions that might produce a tornado, but the exact location and path of it is impossible forecast.
