The mayor of the town is E.Sobolev
The Southern Ural was populated at the end of the 16th century. Russia wanted to get new territories for industry.
Kazaks were sent to the Urals and Siberia. The head of kazaks was Ermak.
There appeared some settlements, for example, Miass, Shadrinsk, Bishkil and others.
Peter I ordered to build factories to produce metal to make arms for soldiers and Kazaks. Guns, pistols were created.
Town of Energetics
In 1948 the power station was built in Yuzhnouralsk.

A delegation of engineers from Great Britain visited Yuzhnouralsk in 1956. The head of the delegation was Walter Sitrin, a member of the Royal Council.

On the 6th of October 1956 a radio ceramic factory was built. On the 1st of August 1957 isolator factory began its work. On the 29th of October 1962 «Kristall» was created.
There are bakeries and a dairy factory
We have 20 libraries, 7 schools, an art school, a sports school, a stadium, 2 museums, a park, a fountain.
The Town Fountain- a favourite place of rest and relaxation for people of Yuzhnouralsk.
There is a monument to Lenin on the square in the centre of the town.
We have the Eternal Fire where people meet on the 9th of May to remember those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
