R. Kipling was born on December 30 1865 in Bombay. He was an English short-story writer, poet and novelist, remembered for his tales and poems of British soldiers in India and his tales for children. Kipling is best known for his works including : « The Jungle Book », « Just So Stories », « Kim » and others. He was one of the most popular writers in England. In 1907 he was awarded the Nobel prize in Literature , making him the first English-language writer to receive the prize.

I have chosen this poem because I like animals. I think it is a great poem and it is about two different pets and their attitude to their master. We can learn about habits and life of these creatures. I suggest you to read some more Kipling’s poems and novels. They are very interesting and thought-provoking!

I think that the author of « Pussy can sit by the fire and sing » was trying to tell people about the pros and cons of two animals: cats and dogs.

Despite the fact that the poem is called " Pussy can sit by the fire and sing "it is not about the cat , but about the man's faithful friend – a dog! I liked Kipling's poem very much!
