Who are children? According to the Convention on the rights of the child, the child is a person under the age of eighteen years . BUT IN SOME COUNTRIES COMING OF AGE varies from 12 till 21. IN USA COMING of age comes from 18.

When rights were accepted? Children’s rights were accepted by united nations general assembly in 1959. this document was named as ‘united nations declaration of the rights of the child’ It enunciated fourty -four principles for the protection of children’s rights

Modification of document In 1989 , after 10 hard-working years, un ratificated new document and opened it for signature on 20 November (the 30th anniversary of its Declaration of the Rights of the Child ). New document was named ‘Convention on the Rights of the Child’

Convention and world Currently 194 countries have ratified, accepted, or acceded to it (some with stated reservations or interpretations ) except Somalia, South Sudan and the United States
