The Catholic church of the St.Catherine The Catholic Church of St Catherine in St. Petersburg is the oldest Catholic church in the Russian Federation, and the only church with the title of basilica (status granted on 23 July 2013). It is located on Nevsky Prospekt and it is a part of the Archdiocese of Moscow headed by Paolo Pezzi . The initial designs were based on the works by Domenico Trezzini , the architect who designed the Peter and Paul Cathedral. His designs, however, were abandoned in 1751. In the 1760s, the French architect Jean-Baptiste Vallin de la Mothe drew designs for the church, but he returned to France in 1775 and Italian architect Antonio Rinaldi completed the church. On October 7, 1783, the church was completed .

Like many churches, the building has the shape of a Latin cross. The church is crowned with a large cupola. The temple is 44 m in length, 25 m in width, and 42 m in height. It can accommodate about 2,000 people. The main facade of the church has a monumental arched portal, which rests on self-supporting columns. Above the facade is a high parapet, with the figures of four evangelists and angels on the top. Above the main entrance there is an inscription from the Gospel of Matthew (in Latin): "My house shall be called the house of prayer"

Cathedral of the Assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was a Catholic cathedral in St. Petersburg from 1873 to 1926 and the residence of Metropolitan of Mogilev, the head of the Catholic Church in the Russian Empire. Administratively it belongs to the North-West region Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Moscow, led by Archbishop Metropolitan Paolo Pezzi . The author of the original draft of the cathedral was the architect Vasily Sobolschikov . The c onsecration of the Cathedral was held on April 12, 1873. During the Second World War, the cathedral had been suffering from falling bombs. The с athedral has a shape of a Latin cross .

Temple of the Lourd’s of the Mother of God Temple of the Lourd’s of the Mother of God is the Roman-Catholic church in Saint-Petersburg. It was built for the French Catholic community by the architects L.N. Benua and M.M. Peretuatkovic . Since 1938 till 1992 this temple was the only one acting Catholic church in Saint- Petersburg.The temple was built in the Roman architecture forms with elements of northern modern style. The interior of the temple consists of the large sea shells for water, 14 states of Way of the Cross, the large and small chandelier and a marble bust of Jesus Christ. Spiritual organ in the Neo-Gothic style was installed in the 1957.

Sagrada Familia ( Spain) It is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain), designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí . The church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated it. A.Gaudí devoted his last years to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926 less than a quarter of the project was completed. Sagrada Família's construction was being built slowly, as it relied on private donations and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War . The constrution o f the cathedral hasn’t finished yet.
