Judaism is one of the oldest religion in the world. It is around 3000 years old and has about 12 million followers. The founder of Judaism is Abraham, also known as the father of Jews. Jewish people have a holy book Torah, which includes God's laws.

Grand Choral Synagogue

Grand Choral Synagogue is situated on the Lermontov avenue. Due to the growing number of Jews in St. Petersburg the emperor Alexander II allowed them to build a synagogue instead of the existing chapels. The synagogue was built in 1893 and on 8th of December it was consecrated. It was a real feast for St. Petersburg Jews of that time.

House of the ablution and funeral.

In 1874, the St. Petersburg Jewish community was given burial site on the Transfiguration Cemetery. In 1910 a house of worship for ablution and funeral was built there. The House of the ablution and funeral was closed in 1938 and in 1991 the services were continued.
