In all countries different colours have different associations. People respond to them in different ways. The colour produces a certain psychological and physiological effect on a person. People’s reaction to colours is subconscious and instinctive and certain colours are tied with certain notions .

Warm colours are made with orange, red, yellow and combinations of them all. As the name indicates, they tend to make you think of sunlight and heat, which is why they're often used to make large rooms look cozier. Cool colours such as blue, green and light purple have the ability to calm and soothe. Where warm colors remind us of heat and sunshine, cool colors remind us of water and sky. Unlike warm colors, cool colours look as though they recede, making them great for small rooms you want to look larger.

Blue Blue has a calming effect and it helps you sleep. That is why blue is a good colour for bedroom. However, too much blue could dampen spirit (that’s why when we feel sad we are “feeling blue”). Navy blue is a common uniforms for sailors or the police. A deep blue is associated with richness and royalty.

Green Green is associated with life, health and renewal. At the same time it means envy and inexperience. Green is known to calm the nerves and soothe emotions. It is national colour of Ireland. Coupled with red green is a Christmas colour.

Grey Grey is a neutral, balanced and conservative colour. Grey is connected with being dull and boring . Like black grey is a colour of mourning as well as colour of formality .

White White is purity cleanliness and virginity. In most western countries women wear long white dresses when they get married. In the East it is a colour of mourning and funerals. Some cultures consider white to be the colour of royalty or of deities.

Silver is a cool colour like grey but livelier and more playful. It often symbolizes riches, just as gold does. Silver can be glamorous and distinguished . Gold is a colour of riches and extravagance. It is associated with wealth and prosperity. In ancient Egypt it was a colour of the Sun god and the symbol of power .

Red Red is a hot and strong colour that evokes various emotions from passionate love to strong violence. Red is the colour of both Cupid and the devil. Red heart shapes and roses represent romantic love, while flashing red light denote danger or emergency. In China it symbolizes happiness and prosperity while it is the colour of mourning in South Africa .

Pink Pink is considered to be feminine, delicate colour. In the US an the UK it is a colour worn by women and girls. It represents “sugar and spice and everything nice” .

Orange Orange is vibrant. It denotes energy, warmth and the sun. It brings up images of autumn leaves, pumpkins, and Halloween. It is a colour of change between heat of summer and cool of winter.

Yellow Yellow is associated with sunshine. On the one hand it symbolizes happiness and joy on the other- cowardice and deceit. In Egypt it is a colour of mourning, while it represents courage in Japan and merchants in India.

Black Black is conservative, serious and conventional. It is typically worn at funerals to show sadness and respect in most Western countries. Black is associated with death and evil. Black, combined with orange, is the colour of Halloween.

Brown Brown is natural, down-to-earth colour. It is found in nature : in earth, wood, and stone. It symbolizes wholesomeness, earthiness, friendliness, dependability and steadfastness.
