С onstruction On the monument was created by team of authors: The equestrian statue of Peter the sculptor Etienne Falconet in 1768-1770. Peter's head was modeled schoolgirl Falcone , Marie-Anne Collot . The serpent is fashioned by Fedor Gordeev on a plan Falcone . The casting of the statue was performed under the direction of the master Emilian Khailov in 1778. Architect: Yury Matveyevich Felten . The monument will be my simple... I shall confine myself to the statue of this hero, which I interpret not as great commander, nor as the winner, although he certainly was both. material For the pedestal of the monument from the surrounding area of Lakhta 26 September 1770 was delivered a giant granite boulder "Thunder-stone". In honor of carriage of stone was engraved commemorative medal with the inscription "Boldness like". The monument was inaugurated on August 7, 1782.
