Hipsters SLANG Hipsterism – the style of life of a hipster; tassel – a girl; to bust a moby – to dance; cronkite – a boy; deck – a key word for most hipsters, similar in meaning to fresh . To be deck is to be up on the latest trends; fin – the opposite of deck. Something that is fin is bad or undesirable; Frado – an ugly guy who thinks he's good-looking; kale – money; midtown – uncultured or unhip; piece – a cell phone.

OTAKU SLANG Fanfic – an abbreviation of "fan fiction." A storyline made by fans using existing characters from Manga and Anime. Kawaii – literally means cute in Japanese. Doujinshi – an independent manga. Usually, but not always, a form of Fanfic. Seiyuu – the Japanese term for voice actor or actress, whether in animation, radio, dubbed non-Japanese films, etc. Fansub (short for fan-subtitled) – a film or video in which fans have translated and subtitled the dialogues into another language. Arc – is a number of episodes connected by plot.
