This war has left its sign in my family. My great-grandfather Strelnikov Nikolai Fadeevich took part in the Great Patriotic War. He was called to defend the native land in 1942. He took part in the Battle of Kursk. He was wounded and treated in the hospital. He has battle rewards. They are our family’s relic now. I am proud of my great-grandfather.

The Battle of Kursk The Supreme Command charged the troops of the central front, under the command of Army General Rokossovsky, with the task to repel the enemy from the city of Orel. Special attention was given to the construction of a strong anti-tank defense. The most fierce fighting took place in Prohorovka tank-battle which resulted in the withdrawal of the enemy’s main forces to their starting position. It was the greatest tank battle of World War II.
