Every year in mid-summer in St. Petersburg on the beach of the Peter and Paul fortress opens the international festival of sand sculptures. The festival is held for the past 13 years. It is known all over the world. There take part domestic sculptors and visiting masters. Every year more than ten thousand people attend this festival. Every year sand sculpture are created by different subjects. In summer of 2014 the theme of the festival was "treasure Island

On the beach were brought thousands of tons of sand and water. Sculptors made from wet sand mold shape, and then cover the top with a special transparent glue to the wind they were not destroyed. Sculptures can stand until the fall, until the rains begin. But then the water will wash away the works of sculptors and we'll wait for the next summer to come to the festival again.
