Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. The tower is now officially called the Elizabeth Tower, after the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world. The tower was completed in 1858 and had its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009. The tower has become one of the most famous symbols of the United Kingdom. Londoners hear  the sound of Big Ben every hour. So people know the clock as Big Ben.

The Spasskaya Tower is the main tower on the eastern wall of the Moscow Kremlin. It was built in 1491 by an Italian architect Pietro Antonio Solari. The clock on the Spasskaya Tower appeared between 1491 and 1585. It is usually referred to as the Kremlin chimes (Кремлёвские куранты) and they designate official Moscow Time. In 1935, the Soviet government installed a red star instead of a two-headed eagle on top of the Spasskaya Tower.
