Twin Towers World Trade Center- a complex of seven buildings , designed by Minoru Yamasaki and officially opened April 4, 1973 in New York ( USA). The main advantage of the complex were two towers, each 110 stories . F or some time after the construction of the tower was the highest skyscrapers in the world's tallest building before it was a building of the Empire State Building , which, after the destruction of the World Trade Center once again became the tallest building in New York . . . September 11, 2001 World Trade Center complex was destroyed by a terrorist attack. On the morning of nineteen terrorists related to "Al -Qaeda " , divided into four groups , captured four scheduled passenger airliner. The hijackers flew two of the airliners into the World Trade Center , located in the southern part of Manhattan in New York City. American Airlines flight crashed into the tower ( north ), and the flight United Airlines - the tower ( south ) . As a result, the two towers collapsed , causing severe destruction of adjacent buildings
