There are many holidays in our country, but my favourite holiday is the New Year .

The 1st of January is a winter holiday, in the middle of winter, and now it is the first day of the New Year. The weather is usually fine and there is a lot of snow everywhere. On the 1st of January I don't go to school and my parents don't go to work.

Our family prepares for this holiday beforehand. My father buys and brings home a beautiful New Year's tree at the end of December. I like to decorate the New Year's tree with toys and lights of all colours : red, blue, yellow, green and white.

The thirty-fist of December at eleven o'clock we sit at a holiday table. There are a lot of tasty things on the table. At twelve o'clock after the chimes struck my parents gives presents and say, "Happy New Year! This is a New Year's present for you". I also give presents to my parents.

We watch TV, dance, eat tasty things, make jokes and go for a walk.

We hope that next year will be better than the last one.

The New Year's Day is always connected with our new hopes and dreams. It is a very nice holiday. I like it very much because I usually have a lot of fun on that day.
