·         призыв к войне;

·         информация, возбуждающая социальную, расовую, информационную или религиозную ненависть и вражду;

·        пропаганда ненависти, вражды и превосходства;

·        распространение порнографии;

·        посягательство на честь, доброе имя и деловую репутацию людей; рекламу (недостоверную, неэтичную, скрытую);

I. INTRODUCTION

The theme of our project is “The Internet safety rules”

We have chosen this theme because the Internet provides websites where more often began to appear "dangerous" information.

Today, the Internet plays a big role in our life and has a great influence on us. It has changed the lives of nearly all people on our planet.

Throughout our project, we’re going to tell about ways we can protect ourselves.

We go online from:

  • School computers.
  • Friends’ computers.
  • Laptops and tablets.
  • Cell phones.
  • MP3 players
  • E-readers
  • Game consoles.

And it’s time for us to learn the basic rules of Internet safety so we can use all of these responsibly.

First of all we interviewed our classmates, the pupils of the 7th form and  asked them the following questions:

  • Do you have a computer at home?
  • Do you use the Internet?
  • Do you use the Internet every day?
  • Do you know the Internet safety rules?
  • 95 % of our classmates have a computer at home.
  • 100 % of them use the Internet.
  • 85% use the Internet every day.
  • 43% know the Internet safety rules.

Looking through these charts we came up to our first conclusion: Pupils of our class use the Internet every day but not all of them know rules of Internet safety.

We think our project will be very useful for us and our classmates. And we’ll try to help them to learn more about the threats of the Internet. And we are going to create a leaflet that will help us to learn the Internet safety rules.

The problem: There is a difficult problem: the inability of people to understand the flow of information, to identify threats and defend against them – all these facts make a person vulnerable.

The aim of our research work is: to create a leaflet for children and teenagers

“The safety rules on the Internet.”

The problems of our project are:

  • To find and select information for a leaflet
  • To analyze this information
  • To find pictures for the leaflet
  • To create a leaflet

II.MAIN PART.

1. What is the Internet?

The Internet is the global system of interconnected mainframe, personal and wireless computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link billions of devices worldwide. By 1996 the word "Internet" had become commonplace and consequently, so had its misuse as a reference to the World Wide Web.
The Net is as interesting and exciting as the people, organizations, companies, governments are connected to it. The Internet enables you to do a lot of things simultaneously. E-mail is a great invention. It’s faster than sending a letter and cheaper than sending a telegram.

It’s known that the Internet, a global computer network which embraces millions of users all over the world, began in the United States in 1969 as a military experiment. It was designed to survive a nuclear war. Information sent over the Internet takes the shortest path available from one computer to another. Due to the fact, any two computers on the Internet will be able to stay in touch with each other as long as there is a single route between them. This technology is called packet swithing. Owing to this technology, if some computers on the network are knocked out (by a nuclear explosion, for example), information will just route around them.

The most popular Internet service is e-mail. Most of the people, who have access to the Internet, use the network only for sending and receiving e-mail messages. However, other popular services are available on the Internet: reading USENET News, using the World-Wide Web, telnet, FTP, and Gopher.

In many developing countries the Internet may provide business-men with a reliable alternative to the expensive and unreliable telecommunications systems of these countries. Commercial users can communicate cheaply over the Internet with the rest of the world.

However, some problems remain. The most important is security. When you send an e-mail message to somebody, this message can travel through many different networks and computers. The data is constantly being directed towards its destination by special computers called routers. However, because of this, it is possible to get into any of the computers along the route, intercept and even change the data being sent over the Internet. In spite of the fact, that there are many good encoding programs available, nearly all the information being sent over the Internet is transmitted without any form of encoding, i.e. "in the clear". So, there are still both commercial and technical problems which will take time to be resolved.

2. Who created  the Internet?

Internet was made by Tim Berners-Lee. He was born in 1955, on the eighth of June. When he was a child, he loved to collect small boxes and make computer models. And Tim drew mainly on computer punch cards - a sort of cartons with holes.         They were the first media. He studied at the prestigious School of Emanuel School where his advances surprised everyone. At the end of the school in 1973 he decided to become a physicist. There is an interesting fact in the biography of the maker of the Internet .  He took the Motorola M6800 processor and an ordinary television and made his first computer. This man had a great attraction to such sciences as physics and programming. He created the Internet in 1989.

3. Positive and negative effects of Internet.

In our opinion, the Internet has two sides. One of them is advantages of  the Internet and another is disadvantages. In our work we tried to group the pros and cons of the Internet in one table.

Positive

Negative

  • You can learn a lot.
  • You can get the news very fast.
  • It is an enjoyable way to relax.
  • It has increased the popularity of sports and art
  • It has made us aware of our global responsibilities.
  • For millions of people around the world, the Net is a source of companionship and helps them to cope with everyday life.

  • It takes a lot of time.
  • It is bad for your eyes.
  • You talk with your friends less.
  • Computers can make us passive.
  • You don’t have to think and your brains become lazy.
  • It encourages you to buy unnecessary things.
  • It takes away time from sports and reading.
  • It makes some people violent.

4. What can you publish in the Internet?

Now a lot of teenagers like to publish a lot of personal information about themselves and their families. But it is very dangerous!!! Don't publish this information:

  • Login and password
  • Your current location
  • Information about your family
  • Your home address
  • Phone number
  • Some pictures about you and your family,  that can spoil your reputation.

5. What is cyberbullying?

We think that the most dangerous disadvantage of the Internet is cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is exactly what it sounds like — bullying through technology like cell phones, social media sites and online games.

Some examples of cyberbullying include:

  • Sending someone mean texts.
  • Photoshopping and posting some pictures or videos to embarrass someone.
  • Creating a fake profile to post defamatory information about someone.
  • Spreading rumors and gossip online.
  • Sending threatening comments.

Of course, some people are cyberbullying in online games. For example:

  • Taunted by other people.
  • Ignored by other players
  • Excluded from playing

Cyberbullying differs from regular bullying in a number of ways. It:

  • Often spreads faster than in-person bullying
  • because of instant online communication.
  • Has a wider audience because it can easily be
  • sent to a potentially unlimited amount of
  • people.

Research tells us that:
About 25% of middle and high school students have been cyberbullied.
About 16% admitted to cyberbulliyng others.
Youth who identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual are more likely to be involved, both as victim and a bully.

6. The Safety rules on the Internet.

Based on all this facts we have created some rules:

  • Don't feed the cyberbullies, ignore theme!
  • If you are a child or teenager, you will tell your trusted adult about people, who makes you sad.
  • As well you can ignore threading messages, if they aren't serious.
  • You must  respect other people online.
  • Don't be rude!
  • You must be careful when meeting online friends in person.
  • If your friends are cyberbullying someone and you stay silent, you're just as guilty as they are. Keep your friends in check!
  • Keep personal information private.
  • Don't click on links that you're not familiar with.
  • Don't type your phone number and address.

III. CONCLUSION.

Our research work is over.It was interesting for us because we have found a lot of useful information. We have learned a lot of new facts .We have learned a lot of new words. We hope that our project will be very useful for our classmates and for other children.
