Chistye Prude ( The Clean Ponds ) is a large pound situated in the centre of Moscow . This place is popular with Muscovites and visitor of the capital.

It may be interesting to know that in the 17 th century the name of ponds was the Dirty Pounds . And they were really as dirty as dirty could be because the people who lived in the neighborhood used the ponds as a gump .

In 1703 Prince Menshikov bought the ponds and the territory around them .He ordered to clean the ponds. After that people gave them the name of the Clean Ponds.

Nowadays the ponds are a home to swans and ducks . In winter the ponds become a skating-rink.

Hundreds of children and grown ups skate on the ponds to music. People come here not only to look at the water birds in summer or in winter.
