In the 19th century, the city of Troy was considered a mythical, i.e. invented. However, Heinrich Schliemann from childhood believed in his existence and wanted to find the remains of Troy. He carefully collected and studied ancient documents that mentioned Troy, and finally went on an expedition. He was very lucky and he actually found an ancient city.

Troy is a city in Northwest Asia Minor. Troy was investigated during the excavations of 1871 – 1894 years, which were conducted under the leadership of German scientists Schliemann and Dörpfeld.
