1.The object of the research is: to acquaint students with abbreviations in the name of restaurants, as well as with the history of the origin of fast food restaurants.

 
2. The aim of the study: the study of American fast food restaurants, their menu and presentation of our own recipe for a drink and a burger. 

3. Objectives: to identify the main preferences of students when visiting fast food restaurants. Find out what new burger or drink they would like to include into the menu. 

4. Methods: the study of chats, sites and other Internet resources, which actively use the Internet - the history of restaurants, as well as visiting the restaurants themselves and tasting dishes.

Once our teacher entered the classroom and said: “TGIF!” instead of the usual “Hello, students!” Seeing our amazed looks, she explained that this abbreviation means “Thanks God it's Friday”, and explained that there is a chain of American restaurants in Moscow  “TGI Fridays”.  In fact, even in Balashikha there are many restaurants with mysterious names, such as KFC, SUBWAY, Hesburger, Burger King.  And often, sitting with friends in restaurants of our town, eating burgers, we wondered: what is the history of these restaurants?  What inspired their creators to these recipes?  And what, in our opinion, is missing in the menu of these restaurants.  The relevance of the topic of our work is determined by the fact that at present English-language names of restaurants, shops surround us everywhere and we cannot exclude the fact that some of them cause translation difficulties, and some that are widely known are embarrassing and not aware.  

Today there are many projects dedicated to American fast food restaurants.  However, we decided to study this topic on the example of students of our school and even created a recipe for a burger and a drink.  This is the novelty of our work.

In order to find out how many people just, like us, do not know the origin of restaurants where they eat and what is missing in their menu, we decided to conduct a survey among pupils of 6th, 7th, 8th classes of our school No12 in Pavlino, 40 people took part in the survey. And these are the results of it:

The following questions were asked to respondents:

• Do you visit fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, KFC, BurgerKing?  
• Do you know the origin of these restaurants, the designation of their names?  
• What do you usually order there?
•  If suddenly you are offered a new burger and a drink in these restaurants, how do you imagine them?

And these are the results of it:

50%  - go to fast food restaurants  

20%  -  do not know the origin

15%  -  did  not understand what it was

10%  - not interested in it

5%  - would like to know the origin of fast food restaurants

And as teenagers love eating, especially something sweet and tasty, we decided to explore this topical issue, so this project has appeared.

                                            KFC

KFC restaurants, formerly called Kentucky Fried Chicken (“Kentucky Fried Chicken”), became a full-fledged chain as early as the 50s of the 20th century, even before their competitors McDonald’s. The KFC trademark came to Russia in 1993, but for a long time the restaurants did not open under their brand name. In Russia, KFC cafes opened under the Rostik’s signboard. The first point under the sign KFC earned in 2006. The menu includes mostly chicken, but there are also various drinks and desserts. There are about 6 KFC restaurants in Balashikha.

                                       McDonald’s 
The MacDonald Brothers are the founders of the famous restaurant chain. It was with them that the McDonald’s story began. The first institution for fast food, they opened in 1940. In the cafe of that time, traditionally 25 dishes were served. Now, thanks to Ray Krok, there are 29 thousand restaurants in the world. Basically, the menu includes: burgers, carbonated drinks and desserts. In Balashikha, these restaurants are about 8.

                                            BurgerKing 
         In 1954, the Insta-Burger King restaurant was opened in Miami. He looked like McDonald’s, but he had some significant features. Stand out the style of cooking. The brand insisted on preserving the nutritional, vitamin values ​​of beef for a burger while cooking it on the grill, free of using oil. This indicated a concern for health. For the first time, they were able to evaluate Burger King products in Russia in 2010. Now there are 373 restaurants in Russia. The menu includes the same things as McDonald’s, only burger patties cooked on a grill, oil-free. Balashikha has about 6 given restaurants.

                                             SubWay

 At 17, young Fred DeLuca and his friend opened the first restaurant for sandwiches, but in an unfortunate place, but instead of giving up they opened another restaurant not far from the first.  And when they got 3 restaurants, they called it Subway. In addition to sandwiches and salads, in most Subway restaurants you can also buy pizza, chips and cookies.  Unlike many other fast food restaurant chains, Subway does not offer french fries to their customers. Balashikha has 3 given restaurants.

So we got a little acquainted with the story behind of fast food restaurants and the main content of their menu.  And, answering the question what inspired their creators to create such recipes, we can assume that with the rapid development of urbanization, fast flow and, sometimes even lack of time, to fully have breakfast or lunch and fast food restaurants were created for every taste.  People can take-away.

Whether this food is good or not, we all know very well.  Do not go there too often, just a snack sometimes.

Previously, we conducted a survey among students of our school, what they often order at fast-food restaurants and what they would like to see new in the menu.

The guys wrote that most of all they visit these restaurants and are very fond of a tasty meal, but everyone takes something from the menu to their liking. Some suggested putting on a sandwich cartoons recipe on the fast food menu, suggesting “Scooby Doo” and “Phineas and Ferb” cartoons.

Based on the preferences of teenagers and adding a little of our culinary skills, we  represent you a new burger and drink recipe.  We are sure they are very lacking in fast food restaurants in Balashikha town.

After creating our recipe, it was tasted in grades 6, 7 and 8, everyone enjoyed it very much and everyone was pleased!

Whether this food is good or not, we all know very well.  Do not go there too often, just a snack sometimes.

In my opinion the purpose of our project is achieved. It may be very useful for people who enjoy cooking or love English as English names of shops, restaurants surround us all over the Russia. The work in this area can be continued.

                    Shrimp burger with aioli sauce  

Aioli is a popular sauce made from garlic and olive oil in the Mediterranean.  To make it, mix egg yolk, chopped garlic, salt and mustard.  Pound until homogeneous and, without ceasing to interfere, pour in a little bit of olive oil.  When the consistency of the sauce looks like mayonnaise, add lemon juice.  Again, thoroughly mix the Aioli with the sauce and grease the grilled buns, then place on them a piece of lettuce, a slice of tomato, cucumber and a pair of onion rings.  The final layer should be peeled and grilled shrimps. 

Ingredients:

• 300 g shrimp;
• 100 ml of olive oil;
• 4 buns for burgers;
• 1 tomato;
• 1 cucumber;
• 1 red onion;
• 1 egg yolk;
• 1 clove garlic;
• 2 tablespoons of lemon juice;
• ½ tsp mustard;
• lettuce and parsley;
• salt to taste.                                          

Strawberry fresh

Wash and clean the strawberries from the stalk, then add it to the blender together with ice and Sprite and beat well.  Pour into a glass and decorate with mint.

Ingredients:

 • Strawberry

 • Sprite

 • Ice

• Mint (for decoration)

There are rules for eating food, especially like this: everything in moderation. Just frequent visits to such restaurants lead to harm to your health, so not all that tasty – is useful!  And you are what you eat!
