Introduction

Hello, my name is Karina. The name of my research is «Handmade soap».

Health is always on the first place in our lives, therefore, personal care products, including soap, are very important . Soap is always necessary in all houses.

Once the soap is finished and mother or other family members run to the store for a new piece of soap.

The aim of my research is – to find out the popularity of  handmade soap.

The tasks:

to study the history of soap

to ask my classmates

 try to make soap at home.

The history of soap

From  different sources I  found out how people lived without soap in ancient times.

It turned out that people took care of themselves all the times, but soup was appeared a bit later, not at once. Scientists still don’t know who invented soap.

1. In Ancient Greece used fine sand;

2. In Ancient Egypt - the powder of bee wax

3. Ancient Romans, invented  a mixture of melted fat with the ashes of marine plants;

There is a legend that English word "soap"  comes from the name of the Roman mountain Sapo, which served as a place of sacrifice.
Sacrificial animals were burned at the stake, and the fat dripping with the woody ash. It rained and washed it in the river Tiber, so this mixture washed clothes very well. Thus, according to legend, people have learned soap.

Types of soup

In the explanatory dictionary of the Russian language S.I. Ozhegov gave the following definition of the word soap, water-soluble washing weight

 (or a piece of thick liquid), the compounds of fats and alkalis ."

According to the definition and the legend, I realized that in both cases there is fat. 

There are different types of soap:

•  laundry soap
• Toilet soap
• Special soap.

Laundry soap is used for washing clothes ,dishes, fruit and vegetables,  protect against viruses and bacteria.

Toilet soup  we use to clean our skin.

Special soap contain healing agents.

Nowdays handmade soap boiling is very popular. It is very interesting and profitable process that becomes a favourite hobby.

As for me I prefer to make soup with my own hands.

My research

I asked 3 questions to my classmates about soap. It turned out that most of  them don’t know main components of soap but already used handmade soup. 39% percent  of children tried to make it at home and 50%  percent would like to do this interesting work.

My creative work

I decided to make soap at home. There are three basic ways to make beautiful and fragrant soap but I chose only one way.

So I need :

• A glass cup, a knife, and a spoon .
• Microwave oven in which I heat the soap base.
• Molds for soap .
• Spirit  with a spray  to remove bubbles.
• Special colors and flavors.

That’s what I have:

«Beetroot salad»;

«А fir tree»;

«Stones»’;

« Kinder»;

Conclusion

Now I know that handmade soap is very popular because it’s very nice, simple, and very interesting hobby. You can choose the colour, flavor and additives that you like . Try to make soap at home , it is so exciting !!!
