Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by the British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of a wizard , Harry Potter and his friends Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's quest to overcome the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aims are to become immortal, to conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people, and destroy all those who stand in his way, especially Harry Potter.

The idea of the first book ("Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone") came up with the writer in 1990, when she was travelling by train from Manchester to London. The train stopped suddenly mid-way between two cities, and, in the train window, Joanne saw a thin fragile boy with a big glasses . Immediately after her arrival to London Rowling began writing the book. Often, she was writing it in her favorite cafe in Edinburgh with a cup of coffee . During the time of creating of the novel, she managed to go through such events as the death of her mother, moving to Portugal in search for job, a marriage with a playboy, Arantesha Georges, giving birth to her daughter, a divorce with her husband, a return to England (where she continued writing the book) and a depression. During her depression Rowling created the dementors - monsters, which take away human happiness.

For a long time, different publishers, one by one, refused from Joanne’s book. But then, in 1995, a small publishing house "Bloomsbury" agreed to publish “Harry Potter”. The first copies have appeared in June 26, 1997.

Harry Potter Harry James Potter is a small, pour kid, who has lost his parents in his childhood. He was brought up by a disgusting people, despite they were his native uncle and aunt. His life was like a nightmare, until a miracle happened once, on his eleventh birthday. That night Harry has known he was a magician, and he, the- boy-who-lived, can study in a school of his dream, Hogwarts. There he met his first and best friends, had a lot of adventures, fought with the evil and saved the world. He met everyone’s expectations about himself as the best young wizard and the last hope of the magical world. He proved his honor, glory and love to his parents and friends, who dead, fighting with dark magicians for peace and fairness. In spite of his enormous glory and everyone's respect, Harry remained shy and very kind person. We love him very much! :D

Hermione Granger Hermione Granger is one of Harry’s best friends in Hogwarts. She’s the best student in their magical school, who never breaks any rules and studies a lot. Hermione is a daughter of a usual parents, who weren’t afraid of her magical gift and became so proud of their girl. She was exited by her talent, that’s why she did her best in all subjects, trying to learn everything she could. However, some wizards called this intelligent girl “Mudblood”. They were making fun of her, proud of their own, “pure” bloodline. At the first time, Hermione spend all nights crying, but then, due to support of her friends, she overcame all this abuses. Hermione wasn’t just a clever student. She was a real a fighter for justice of all people and magical creations. She couldn’t stand, for instance, a slavery of house-elves. She always helped Harry in all his adventures and troubles, and, in the end, helped him to win the evil, Lord Voldemort.

Ronald Weasley Ronald is the first Harry’s friend. Actually, he’s the first small wizard met by Harry in magic world. He met Harry in a train during their travel to Hogwarts. He appeared to be not very smart, but so nice and kind boy, who’s biggest fear was spiders. Ron has a big family, which consists of 6 boys and only 1 girl. Their parents are pour, but very kind and cheerful. They gave Harry a shelter in all his troubles, support him as well as his closest friends did. Ronald is one of the most easy- going people in this book. He never was too proud of himself as the best Harry’s friend. Instead of it, sometimes he felt really hurt by Harry’s endless fame. But he was sure in his friend and tried to pay no attention on this fact. In the end, he, with Hermione, helped Harry to save the world.

Awards Since the first publication of it’s first novel, series of "Harry Potter“ has won a great number of awards, including: four Whitaker Platinum Book Awards, three Nestlé Smarties Book Prizes, two Scottish Arts Council Book Awards, one Costa book award for the book of the year for children and many others. In 2000, the "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" was nominated for the Hugo Award for best novel, and in 2001 this award was given to the novel "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire“.

The first film on “Harry Potter” appeared on the 14 th of November, in 200 1 . It was shown at the International Film Festival in London. The film made a huge success as the most expected film of the year. Actors Daniel Redcliff, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who played the main parts, got a great fame immediately after the premiere . The next films on the book about wizards and magic are also loved by all Potter’s fans as well as the book. The last film “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” got a huge box office: more than one billion dollars. It is fairly considered as one of the most successful film ever. Films

“Harry Potter” is, surely, an absolute best-seller. There is no man in our world who has never heard of this wonderful book. The novel about a boy, who fights with dark wizards is read and loved all over the world by people of different ages. It teaches us simple, but such an important things – what is friendship, love, faithfulness, good and bad. Harry and his friends will stay in our hearts forever, even if the story is already over.
