English is the official language of Canada, French is the main language for about a quarter of the country's population. The term "Canadian English" refers to how English sounds and slang words are pronounced in Canada. Canadians have this national habit of inserting 'eh' at the end of sentences, which can easily identify a Canadian in a crowd. For example, the statement "This is a nice dress" becomes a question: "This is a nice dress, eh?" Or "fine day" turns into "fine day, eh?“ Some words are unique to Canadians, such as "loonie," meaning a one-dollar coin, "toonie" – a two-dollar coin, or "Canuck," which means "Canadian. Canadians try pronouncing the sound made by the letter "u" as though it was written "yu," for instance, "Tuesday" would be pronounced "Tyoosday" or even "Chewsdee"
