Poem "Leningrad"

“I’ll leave for Leningrad, I’m so happy! I’m so glad!”

The couple was quietly talking, separating and scolding:
You are such..! And you are so..! You are awful! You are fool!
-I’ll leave for Leningrad, I’m so happy! - I’m so glad!

It occurred on a railway station, summer sunshine was rather impatient.
The decision took a moment; she bought tickets with no comment.
But the train was ready to walk, fiercely steaming with smoke.

“-I’ll leave for Leningrad! I’m so happy! -I’m so glad!”

When a train conductor waved a flag on the background of a rolling stock,
And the watch was almost about to strike 12 and 20 o’clock ,
Here came the time to go, the last moment for a row..

“-Oh, my darling! - My sweetheart! I am stupid! - I am bad!
I won’t leave for Leningrad! I’m so happy! - I’m so glad!”
