Holiday " Наурыз" is celebrated on the 22nd of March. The final date of March 22 acquired the official status of а national holiday on the 15th of March in 1991 after the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan "On the national spring holiday - Наурыз мейрамы ". And since 2009, "Наурыз"has been officially celebrated in Kazakhstan for three days - 21, 22 and 23 March. "Наурыз" is called New Year according to the ancient Oriental calendar. On this day, fancy yurts are put in the streets of towns and villages of Kazakhstan. And anyone can enjoy a festive meal. The mass games are held everywhere. Horsemen take part in traditional races. Modern "Наурыз" has preserved the continuity of the traditions of ancient times - in order to revive the national culture.

I personally have visited our festive square a lot of times and participated in the celebration. "Дастархан" is usually set in houses, a variety of dishes is offered such as "Наурыз көже", "Кеспе", "Ақ сорпа, "қумыз" etc. Many popular games are held, which involve adults and children. National costumes and songs are also the important part of the celebration.
