It survived to our time without any changes. The three life-sized figures of a peacock, a rooster and an owl are included in the composition of the mechanical clock. The clock was made in England in the XVIII century by the famous jeweler and clockmaker James Cox. It was presented as a gift to Catherine the Great. The clock was delivered to Russia in pieces. It took 9 years for Russian mechanic Ivan Kulibin to put them up together . History of its creation

To keep the clock in order its work is repeated a few times a month.

And here begins a mini-play. The owl (symbol of night) wakes first: it moves its head, rolls its eyes, while the bells ring. Then a peacock wakes up spreading its Golden tail — a symbol of the sun. The rooster is the last. It begins to sing, greeting the new day.
