Thanksgiving day Выполнили ученицы 6а класса Горнова Ирина Куликова КристинаСлайд 2
The history of the holiday Thanksgiving day is one of the oldest American holidays. In the first winter on the new continent, more than half of the settlers died of cold, hunger and disease. The survivors founded the Plymouth colony, the oldest English settlement in America, and with the help of local Indians began to cultivate the land. The reward for these labors was a bountiful harvest — and the first Governor Bradford decided to spend the autumn of 1621 thanksgiving to the Lord for the harvest and the help of the Indians . At the festive table, the elders of the colony invited local Indians from the Wampanoag tribe who helped the settlers to survive. The Indians brought four birds, later called turkey with them-this dinner was the first thanksgiving.
