Урок английского языка в 9 классе

Тема: “Здоровый образ жизни” (“Wellness Lifestyle”)

Цели урока: 1. Средствами английского языка сформировать у                    учащихся понимание значимости здоровья человека.

                            2. На основе приобретенных знаний сформировать у учащихся умение осуществлять устно-речевое общение в рамках темы.

                            3. Формирование у учащихся языковых, интеллектуальных и познавательных способностей; умения переноса знаний и навыков в новую ситуацию на основе осуществления широкого спектра проблемно-поисковой деятельности.

Задачи урока:

  1. Активизировать лексику по теме “Здоровье” в речи учащихся.
  2. Развивать речевые навыки учащихся в монологической речи.
  3. Тренировать учащихся в аудировании и чтении.
  4. Тренировать учащихся в работе в парах.

Форма урока: групповая работа.

Тип урока: повторительно-обобщительный.

Дидактические материалы: карточки с высказываниями по теме урока; фотографии, картинки и книги, посвященные здоровому образу жизни, презентация “Wellness Lifestyle”.

                                       Ход урока

I. Организационный момент.

T.: Good morning, everybody. Nice to meet you. How are you? Are you fine? That’s nice. Then, let’s start our unusual lesson. Today we shall have a lesson-conference.

Do you know that:

Active life makes you feel happy.

Health is a gift of fate and it deserves our full attention.

A person who has a wellness lifestyle can make right decisions.

Wellness means more than physical health.

Wellness is a Journey which begins at the moment of our birth.

You have to formulate the topic of our lesson.

P. Health plays a significant role in human life.

Our lifestyle.

Health is a gift of fate.

Wellness lifestyle.

The teacher summarizes the students’ variants  and gives the topic of the lesson : “Wellness Lifestyle: what is it”.

II. Работа со словом “Wellness”

    What is wellness in your understanding?

Wellness is a particular way to live and to be happy

               is freedom from disease

               is a perfect physical development of a person

               is a healthy lifestyle

               is a quality of our private life

               is a common concern for human worth

               is building relationships with other people

               is dealing constructively with feelings and handling your problems

               is keeping life in balance

               is the way to adjust to environment

               is financial independence.

Teacher: What spheres of human life does wellness deal with?

Pupils: It deals with different spheres of man’s life. It comprises physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social dimensions.

Conclusion: what conclusion do we have?

Wellness exists when there is a balance between interdependent relationship of physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social dimensions.

III. Синонимы: “Wellness” и “Health” 

In our talking we have two words “Wellness” и “Health”

You have to match definitions and meanings:

  • physical health
  • mental health
  • social health

What are they?

Physical health – is a condition of your body.

Mental health – is the way you feel about yourself and how you handle your problems.

Social health – is the way you build your relationships and establish contacts with people.

IV. Работа с пословицами. (работа с интерактивной доской)

We started with the proverb “Health is the best wealth”. But there are a lot of others about health! Do you know these proverbs? I propose you to compose them. Please, go to the screen and compose them.

P1: Health is above wealth.

P2: An apple a day keeps a doctor away.

P3: A sound mind in a sound body.

P4: The greatest wealth is health.

P5: Active life makes you feel happy.

T.: Some people are healthy, some people are unhealthy. The English people say: “Health is the best wealth”. They are right! We can’t buy health, but we can do a lot to keep it.

VI. Составляющие качественной жизни.

T.: But do you follow these rules in your real life? How do you care about your health? Each of us has own comprehension of a quality life. What ingredients make up a quality life and influence our health and mood?

Possible answers:

  • Having positive self-image;
  • Getting along with people;
  • Setting and reaching goals;
  • Planning my time and day;
  • Exercising and sport activities;
  • Choosing healthy nutrition for good health;
  • Participating in lifetime activities according to my inclinations and likings;
  • Learning about harmful effect of drugs, alcohol, tobacco.

T.: and at last, healthy habit number 13: have a plan. So, the best way to be healthy is to make plan.

XII. Подведение итогов.

 

 

Teacher: In the past being healthy meant not to be sick. Today people are becoming aware of a more complete idea of health. Will you match the definitions and the words characterizing types of health. Can we say that two words “health” and “wellness” are synonyms?

Pupils: In a way, yes, but “Wellness” has a wider range of meanings. It includes the idea of health and well-being.

V. “The quality of life circle” 

Teacher: Wellness deals with the lifestyle of people populating the Earth. It’s a global characteristic. Why do people of different countries demonstrate their great interest to wellness lifestyle? (One half of the students stand up and form a large circle facing inwards. The other half of the students forms a smaller circle within, facing someone in the outside circle. This should look like a round wheel with an inside and outside circle, students facing each other. After about one minute (this is where it takes some training), the outside circle doesn’t move and the inside circle (students) move one person to the right so they are now facing a new partner.)

Pupils:

  1. irrespective of the place of their living people want to be healthy and happy;
  2. many people come to understand that they can control their lifestyle and much depends on themselves;
  3. social changes take place in the countries and they reflect the interest of people to their lifestyle;
  4. there is scientific evidence which explains the risks of alcohol and drugs, the benefits of exercising, playing sports and healthy food;
  5. new athletic facilities.

Teacher: Wellness depends on the quality of our life. The quality of life can be presented in the form of a geometrical figure, i.e. in the form of a circle divided into segments.

Look at the scheme and say what ingredients make up each segment, and how much they take in the circle.

                      The quality of life circle

Group 1: Genes and Body Makeup (16%) are what we inherit from our parents (Things beyond my control).

Group 2: Environment (21%) is what surrounds us (Me + family, community, nation).

Group 3: Health Care System (10%) is what helps us improve health (Me + doctor and hospital).

Group 4: Lifestyle (53%) is the number of things I can do for myself (Things I can do for myself).

Teacher: The 4th factor in the circle is lifestyle. Why does it take the greatest part of the circle?

Pupils:

  1. the scheme shows that individual choices are more important than any other factor influencing personal health;
  2. this scheme proves that lifestyle depends on a person to greater extent;
  3. I think that, if all factors are balanced, a person can reach harmony.

VI. Ingredients of a quality life.

Each group of students makes a list of components, which characterize  the wellness.

Teacher: Each of us has his or her own comprehension of a quality life. What ingredients make up a quality life and influence our health and mood?

Цель урока: 

- формирование основ информационной культуры на уроке английского языка;

- закрепить и проконтролировать степень усвоения знаний, умений и навыков, сформированных на уроках.

Задачи урока: 

  1. Развивать интерес к английскому языку и информатике;
  2. Углубить и расширить знания по данной теме;
  3. Учить работать с текстом;
  4. Ознакомить со специальной лексикой;
  5. Развивать навыки говорения, чтения, письма;
  6. Развивать логическое мышление, активность, внимание;

Computer technology is the fastest-growing industry in the world.
Computer revolution is changing our life and our language, too. We are constantly making up new words or giving new meanings to old ones.

The rapid development of Science and Technology has changed the world.

In recent years computers have been used in all fields of human activities: business, industry, education, culture, health care service, economics, politics, mass media, arts, in everyday life of different people.

At the present time people have to keep step with the times and not to be lost in the world of information. So computers are becoming of great importance for most adults and youth.

Nowadays more and more people use computers at work and home. They can not tear themselves away from their computers.

III. The Desktop

What is located on the Desktop?

We can save on the Desktop our own folders and files.

Please, give the definitions of them.

  • The My Documents folder is your own personal folder in which you can store your documents, graphics, and other personal files. When there is more than one person using the computer, Windows creates a My Documents folder for each user on the computer.
  • By default, the target or actual location of the My Computer folder is C: / Documents and Settings / user name / My Documents, where C is the drive in which Windows are installed. You can change the target if you want My Documents to point to a different folder location.
  • The My Computer folder is also located on the desktop. It contains resources of your Personal Computer (PC): Discs (3, 5 {A :}, {C :}, {D :}, etc.) the Control Panel, and Printers.
  • The Recycle Bin provides a safety net when deleting files or folders. When you delete any of these items from your hard disc, Windows places it in the Recycle Bin and the Recycle Bin icon changes from empty to full. Items deleted from a floppy disc or a network drive are permanently deleted and are not sent to the Recycle Bin. Items in the Recycle Bin remain there until you decide to permanently delete them from you computer. These items stiff take up hard disc space and can be undeleted or restored back to their original location.

But  what can you say when The Recycle Bin fills up.

When it fills up, Windows automatically cleans out enough space in the Recycle Bin to accommodate the most recently deleted files and folders. If you are running low on hard disc space, always remember to empty the Recycle Bin.

  • Taskbar is a panel where Start, English / Russian and Time buttons are located. The Start button allows users to access their computer. We begin and finish working on the computer pushing the Start. English / Russian button is a pointer of the current alphabet. When we operate the computer we don’t need to look at our watch or clock the Time button shows us what time it is.

How to Create a Folder

Creating folders, also called directories, helps you to organize your files. For example, you might want to make a folder called “Job Search” to store your resume, cover letters, references and other documents.

STEP 1: Locate and select the place where you want to create your new folder. You may create your new folder on the desktop. If you want to put it inside the My Documents folder, then first open My Documents.

STEP 2: Open the File menu, and then click on New.

STEP 3: Click Folder. A new unnamed folder icon will appear.

STEP 4: Name your new folder by typing the name in the text box provided.
