Kovrov - the City of Gunsmiths

People who are coming to the town of Kovrov from Ivanovo or Shuya can enjoy a splendid view which is repeatedly captured on the canvases by local artists:  dark waters of the river Kliazma and reflected in it endless series of buildings among numerous high trees on the other bank of the river.  The present and the past of Kovrov are represented in this beautiful picture – two-storied houses of the nineteenth century, three magnificent churches, modern many-storied block of flats and chimneys of factories.

Our town is known far from the borders of Vladimir region as a major center of Russia's defense industry, specializing in mechanical engineering, metal processing, textile and light industry, and building industry. Kovrov is home to Degtyarev plant, Kovrov Mechanical Factory, Kovrov Electromechanical Factory, and CB Armatura, etc.  In December 2011 the town got the honorary title “The city of Military Glory” for the great “courage, endurance and mass heroism, exhibited by citizens of the city in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Motherland”.

Our town is famous for its gunsmiths, scientists and researchers, developers of new space technologies, country’s motorsports stars, artists and master-hands of clay toys. You are welcome to the city of gunsmiths!
