On the 10 th of May we were in Verkhoturye . We liked this trip and we learned a lot about this town .

Verhoturye is the oldest town in Sverdlovsk region. It was founded in 1598 as fortress in the upper part of the River Tura. Due to its geographical position Verhoturye played an important role in the populating of the Urals and Siberia by the Russians. Verhoturye was called “The Gates to Siberia”. The Tura connected the town with the most important rivers of Sibera.

During the 17-18 th centuries Verkhoturye was an economic and administrative centre of Zauralye. During 150 years the customs was in Verkhoturye.

The centre of the town is the Kremlin. At first it was built of wood, then after the fire of 1674 it was rebuilt of stone. It is the only Kremlin in the Urals built partly of brick and partly of granite. The Kremlin was built in the style of the so-called Moscow baroque.

Trinity Cathedral is the most ancient temple of Urals. It is pearl of Verkhoturye. People can do tweifthnight and crow.1000 churchmen come to Verkhoturye to become ecclesiastical consolation.

We visited a museum, saw a lot and learned about the history of this town.

Now it is a small Ural town. But recently the Kremlin with its marvellous Trinity Cathedral was rebuilt. The government of Sverdlovsk region pay much attention to the reconstruction of the town. Many tourists visit Verkhoturye and admire the beauty of its historical monuments.
