A school leaves an indelible mark in the life of every person, providing an impact on the development and formation of personality.  

Today`s year 2013 for our school is special - anniversary.

The object of our research is history of our school.

In preparation for its sixtieth we have made up a project   « School № 9 by name Alexander Pushkin in the past and nowadays ».

Motive for choosing this topic: here we spend our childhood, dive into the world of knowledge, our parents, sisters and brothers studied here.  

Thousands of residents of the town got a free pass having finished this school which is rich in traditions. So we   should and we want to know the achievements and history of our school.

The aim of our work: to deepen, to consolidate knowledge of the history of our school, its teachers and graduates.

To achieve the goal, we have identified the tasks

• To find out the time, place, stages of the development of school, how its status has been changing.
• To bring school history to a wide public;
• To learn what benefits school groups brought for the town.
• To remember those whose lives are worth studing and are an example for us.

Base of our research became the following methods:

• Studying and analyzing of documents from school and town archives, articles from town’s press
• . The quiz for students of school.
• Working with photos ;
• Meetings with teachers and graduates;
• Records of  memories
• Interviews with veteran of school A. S.  Kibardina;
• Creating electronic project based on research;

We began our study by examining the official documents from the town archives – resolution of Volhzsk town’ council of deputies (document 1), the council of Ministers of the Mari ASSR under the number 1456 of October 16, 1953 about opening the seven-year school number 9. Based on these documents, we consider that our school was founded on 16 October 1953. Mikheev Georgiy Stepanovich was appointed as the first headmaster of our school (photo 1).

In order to deepen knowledge about the history of school, we had a quiz.

Questions:

1. When was the school founded?
2. Where was the first building of our school?
3. How was the street named, where the school is located?
4. Who was the first headmaster of school?
5. When was the outbuilding of school made?
6. Who suggested this reconstruction?
7. How was the status of school changed?
8. When did our school become high?
9. When was the school named after Alexander Pushkin?
10. What teachers of school are its graduates?

As a result of the quiz the students of forms 8A, 9B, 11 became winners.

Based on studying of documents and photographs from the school archives, we learned that the school was located in a one-story wooden building in the center of  the town in Shchors street (Now it is Lenin Street) (photo 2). Now the building of Design institute is located on this place.  At the photo (photo 3) we see the first students of school and their teachers:  at the head of headmaster G. S.  Mikheyev,   In 1960 the first students release of seven-year school №. 9 took place. There were 59 people (photo 4). From the interview with school veteran Kibardina, we have learned that the best students of this release became Mosunov Michael, who later became the head of a factory, Valintina Anisimova - chemistry teacher, Verdavis Valeeva. In 1963, the school the numbering changed.

The document №2 of 25 May 1951 about the resolution of Volhzsk town’ council of deputies tells us about construction of new school in Shchors and Matyushenco streets. At photo 5 we see a two-storeyed brick building, where at first students of school №1 studied.

The building, where now students are studying, passed from school №1 and a new building was build for it. The status of school has changed. It became an eight-year one. In the 80s it became a nine-year school. 519 students have studied and 23 teachers worked there.  

There was something in the building that did not suit teaching staff. There were no educational workshops, sport and assembly halls. From conversations with teachers, we learned that physical education classes and after-school activities were held in the hall on the second floor and prevented from lessons which took place next doors. At the photo 6 we see how the PE teacher A. Spiridonov is having a lesson in the school recreation. Technology teachers had to have lessons in the workshops of school №1.

School administration, parent`s committee did the best to achieve the construction of a new building or an outhouse. Looking through the pages of the newspaper "Volzhskaya Pravda", the members of the creative team have read the article "We are responsible for everything," dated February 23, 1989 (Document 3). It is reported that ​​Headmaster of school № 9 Kibardina spoke at a meeting with the candidate to the deputies of the USSR Belyakov O S.  She told about the problems of school. By the time 500 students have studied, but there were no conditions for normal work.  After this meeting, the case began to promote. In 1991 outhouse was commissioned. Facilities for having physical education lessons, technology lessons, physics appeared, a large dining room and assembly hall opened the doors.

The school became secondary. In 1993, its first school leaving took place in the new status. The home teacher Alla Anatolievna Tyamakova says: «There were 22 pupils (photo 8).  The class was united, everybody supported each other, helped in difficult situations. Guys took part in the" Literary salon ", which literature teacher Kornilova I D carried. The class introduced the tradition to make a wall newspaper to a school leaving party. The best students of the class were Albert Nasybullin, Maxim Antipin, Victor Pendelsky, Kostya Tsitsilin, Larissa Polozkova, Oksana Palagina, Natalia Popova. They still call up and meet with each other. Many of them have finished institutes; have become experts in their profession.  For example, Victor Pendelsky is the head of the Office of the Pension Fund of Volzhsk. Larissa Polozkova became a businesswoman and founded her office "Larissa". Kostya Tsitsilin became a professional soldier. It is remarkable, that it was an anniversary school leaving; the school celebrated the 40th anniversary of its foundation. In 2012, our school made ​​the 20th school leaving.

For 60 years our school has changed. It became beautiful, comfortable and modern. The pupils are studying in large and light classrooms with modern equipment: computers, LCD TVs, interactive whiteboards, audio equipment. Chemistry, physics, biology, literature, the Basics of Life Safety, technology for girls classrooms were redecorated (photos 9-11).

Home cabinet system was initiated in the 70-80s. In her interview to the newspaper "Volzhskaya Pravda" (Document 4), which was published on the 50th anniversary of school, A S Kibardina said: "How much force, energy, creativity, teachers invested in the design of classrooms! And a lot of them were recognized as the best not only in the town but in the republic.  These were chemistry classrooms (Head N. Lvova), biology (OT Kuptsova), foreign language (L. Konstantinova, V I Bayushkina), Tecnology (VI Zaikina), history (A.S. Kibardina). "

Turned the pages of the Chronicle of school, we learned information about those people who headed over the years. Once again, the first Headmaster was Georgiy Stepanovich Mikheyev, a very erudite man, a great organizer of the teaching staff. For different reasons, headmasters changed annually at that time.

For 1958 - 1965 Headmaster was O. N.Starikova (photo 13).

During her leadership the team of students and teachers took part in the construction of the Palace of Culture of Mary Pulp and Paper Mill and received a prize - the TV. Innovation in encouraging pupils to work was breeding rabbits, growing vegetables in the school grounds.

From 1965 to 1971 Headmaster of school was K. I.  Zvezdin( photo 14), a veteran of World War II. Under his leadership, the school often held meetings with veterans of wars (photo 15), the room of military glory was decorated.

In 1971 - 1983 – S. N. Yembaturov (photo 16)-  a good organizer, a lecturer-propagandist. Under his leadership, a local museum was opened. History teacher ​​Baramygina A. S. made a great contribution in its organization.

Alexandra Stepanovna is a veteran of school. During our conversation with her, we learned that her teaching experience is over 50 years. She began to work as a history teacher at our school in 1956, then she became a staff head, a Headmaster. She is a teacher by vocation, a skilled manager and organizer. Thanks to her efforts, integrity, perseverance, school №9 got a new outbuilding. That's what here former student, now a history teacher school № 5 Opekunova EI says about her: «Strictness and kindness, perfectionism and attention to people are distinctive characters that are common toAlexandra Stepanovna. She influenced my choice of profession, I became a historian and grateful to her».

During a meeting with her ​​colleague Maria Borisovna Sidorova we remembered the phrase about her: "Alexandra Stepanovna was always in the eternal search, and it gave positive results in her the work."

After retirement, Alexandra Stepanovna did not finish teaching. She taught technology for girls, was a staff head of elementary education, a history teacher. At present time she does not forget her native school. She takеs part in our different activities, meetings, tells about school.

We, the participants of this project, want to thank her for the great help she has provided in writing this research.

1991 - 2001 - Headmaster of school is Krivileva EN (Photo 17). While here leadership coincided with changes in the country, including in the field of education.   There were problems on the downside of life.  We never thought that the teachers go on strike. Teachers' strikes  swept across the country, including our town. This happened in 1998. The school year began not on September 1, on the 14th. Elena Nikolaevna, the first of its Headmasters, has assumed responsibility to end the strike and begin the school year. Grand parade began with a speech of the President of the Republic VA Kislicin. He congratulated the beginning of the school year and as a gift gave the school sports equipment. About it we told from her daughter Anna Krivileva, gold medalist, a graduate of our school.  

From 2001 until the present time, our director is LS Soshnikova. During her leadership the school won the Russian competition for the grant of the President of Russia, for which it received one million rubles, achieved a new status - school № 9 after Alexander Pushkin.

From the school archive we met with Excellence in Public Education V.G. Zaikina, A.S. Kibardina, V.R. Kharlamova, L. N. Sofronova, T. N. Korotkova, M. I. Slobodnyuk.

A. F. Loseva, T. I. Baranova, A. S. Baramygina, V. I. Bayushkina, L. S. Konstantinova, V. P. Kibardina, F. I. Avdeyev, A. Ye . Domnin, A. P. Kalinina worked at the school for a long time (photo 18).  We read about one of these teachers in the article "Your opinion" published in the newspaper "Volzskaya Pravda" from 22 November 1988. In this article, the students of class 8 B, Natasha Savrasova and Natasha Mavrina councilors squads named heroes Krasnodon, expressed his opinion about which of the teachers working with the times and is a teacher of restructuring.  They said: "Our head teacher Tatiana Korotkova teaches us Mathematics. She explains lucidly. For each of us it hurts the heart. To it can be accessed with any question. She always listens, understands, relieves tension».

Over the years, due to natural causes teachers updated. In place of our veterans young teachers come, who continue the work of their senior colleagues. Of high school graduates over 80 people became teachers.

Administration of the school is its former students: Headmaster LS Soshnikova, head teachers AA Tyamakova, GV Pechnikova, former director of studies on educational work Barseghyan TV, as well as teachers G Y Nemchinova, M. M. Byaulova, A. N. Timshina, E.P. Gerasimova, A N Cheremunina.

Nowydays 39 teachers work at school. 11 teachers have the title "Honored Worker of public education."  (photo19) Our teachers are actively involved in teaching skills competitions at various levels. For example, a teacher of Russian language and Literature O.P. Veniminova and Social Studies teacher R.V. Shevchenko are the winners of the grant of the President of Russia (photo 20). Olga Pavlovna is also the winner of the Republican and the winner of the Russian contest "Teacher of the Year."

After studying the different sources (documents, materials of press, archive, record memories, interviews with teachers, graduates), we made a compilation of the achievements of the school in various stages of it’s development. From the words of A. Kibardina we learned that in 70-80 years in the high level of development there are the Komsomol and Pioneer organizations (at photo 21 we see pioneer meeting of pioneer organisation to take place).   Student government was developing at that time. In the 90's   intergenerational squad "Gino" was active, we read an article about it in the newspaper "Vozhskaya Pravda" on November 2, 1993. The participants of this group were the initiators of the many interesting things in school.  Pioneers’ meetings, Komsomol meetings, collecting waste paper and scrap metal, the active work of the Lenin room,  the room of Military and Labor glory, History museum - this is not a complete list of interesting things. At the initiative of the senior pioneer counselor D.K. Gabdulhayeva tradition to meet with the guys Lenin`s dawn was founded. Members of the International Friendship Club under the direction of German teacher V.I. Bayushkina one of the first in the city began to lead an active correspondence with their counterparts from the German Democratic Republic.  Valentina Ivanovna as part of a tour group visited the country.  Tourist meetings, 2-3-day trips to Lake Yalchik became traditional. Enthusiasts of these campaigns were teachers F.I.Avdeev and I. N.Pinayev (Photo 22-23). Students travel much around the country. They went on trips to the big cities. In support of this we found the photos in the album "Chronicle ofSchool" (photo 24).

School has always been famous for it’sr talents in dance, and singing, and the performing arts. Students often took first and second ranks in the city show of amateur. For some years the school had a drama club, headed by a teacher of singing N. Rukavishnikov.It’s plays were popular among students. (photo 25)

For many years the students together with their teachers helped collective farmers to gather the harvest (photo 26), took part in subbotnics, taking out garbage from the school area, park of culture, stadium, Victory park. At the end of the 80-s students of grades 8-9 do practical work at enterprises and specialised technical school 15, girls sewed gloves at a clothing factory.

New time demands new approaches in the educational process and leisure activities. Students of our school annualy successfully take part in the city competitions, are engaged in research work, promote healthy lifestyles, sports, amateur performances. Guys like to visit various clubs and sections.  

Any holiday in our school is an important event for students and teachers. Dayof self-governing became traditional s, Autumn and Christmas balls, Christmas parties, Pushkin ball, parties, devoted to the International Women's Day and the Day of Defenders of the Motherland, as well as the holiday of Last Bell.  (photo27) Neither holiday is complete without a dance show group "Artes" (her head Pekeshina S.A., the former student of the school.) Participants of this group toured with concerts many cities, became winners of Mary Republic and All-Russian competitions (photo 28).

Our school is also the area of sport. Students are actively involved in thework of school's basketball section. Guys were rewarded for winning in town’s competitions in football, basketball, cross-country race many times. Physical education teachers T.P. Kuznetsova and F.V. Kuznetsov rapidly lead our boys and girls to the new achievements and victories. We are happy for students of 9 "A" & 8 "B" classes, who  became the winners of the Republican presidential Games for the second time and represented our country at the All-Russia games in Anapa (photo29)

The school is proud of its bright "stars – the best students in education, sports and art activities, research work, competitions and contests.

50-60th - Vladimir Smirnov, Irina Dukova (excellent student learning), Yuri Arkhipov (permanent school Banner-carrier), Nina Kurnasenkova, Alevtina Motorina (active social worker).

60-70th - Vladimir Chigarin (excellent student, a good photographer), an excellent student Irina Karaganovа.

70-80th - Sergei Bakurkin, Oleg Pyatnitsyn.

80-90th - - the champions of Russian and international competitions in Judo Sergei Ignatiev, Greek-Roman fighting Alexander Mikhailov, a good student Alexander Bogoyavlensky, Natasha Savrasovа (social worker, an excellent student), Marina Naumova.

1990-2000th - Albert Nasybullin (the participant of All-Russian Olympiad in Information Technology), Vladlen Dimov (participant of the Republican contest in Russian), the best students and social activists Andrei Smorkalov Anna Krivilyova, Tanya Dimova, Natalia Novoselovа.

2000 -2012 – The best students and social activists Ekaterina Smirnova, Ludmila Sergeeva, Olga Evdokimovа, Alexey Zaytsev, Pavel Eshkinin, Olga Kriveleva, Evgenia Kvasova, Marina Kvasova, winners of international competitions in the Greco-Roman wrestling brothers Sergei and Yevgeny Mikhailov, our dancers Anna Shmotova, Yulia Pechnikova, Elena Derevyashkina.

Summing up, we consider that we achieved the goal which we put in our work. The following tasks have been fulfilled:

1. We could find out time, place periods of development of the school, how it’s status had been changing.
2. We succeded in learning what benefits school groups brought for the town.
3.  We tried to bring school history to a wide public;

During the research work, in cooperation with the employees of state institutions, teachers, graduates of the school, we have acquired the skills of outreach work, enriched by the knowledge about the school, have broadened our mind.  The collected material, including presentation in the electronic version, will be an important contribution to the creation of a school Museum and will be available for teachers, students, their parents of many generations. The Theme of our project is very broad. Not all it’s aspects were reflected. For example, we would have taken the interviews from the former students. We will try to do it in our next research work.
