Money for the construction of the monument have been collected by nationwide subscription . This work was begun in 1826 and completed in 1829 In 1832 the monument was installed in Arkhangelsk on the Cathedral Square.

Moreover……. In 1867 : the statue was moved to the area in front of the government office In 1930 : the monument was set in front of the Arkhangelsk Forestry Engineering Institute, now the Arkhangelsk State Technical University.

In addition…… The monument is made in the style of late classicism, It’s the earliest of the works of monumental sculpture in Arkhangelsk. It is a bronze sculpture, performed on a cylindrical pedestal of pink granite. On the pedestal on the front side is placed the inscription "Lomonosov 1829“ and on the back - "Moved in 1867 and 1930."
