I.A. Kuratov Kuratov was the founder of the Komi literature. He was a linguist , a translator and the Komi poet. Ivan Kuratov was born in the village of Ust - Sysolsky district on the 6 th of July in 1839.

Biography 1854 – He graduated from the Yarensk religious school. 1854-1860 – He studied at the Vologda Seminary, where he firstly demonstrated his poetic talent. In his poetry one can find philosophical and socio-political views. He tried to describe deeply the national Komi identity .

Biography Kuratov translated a great number of Russian literature masterpieces and foreign classics of the world literature into the Komi language. He p aid attention to the studying of the Komi language. He wrote grammatical rules of the Komi language.

Biography Kuratov died in Verny (now the city of Alma-Ata) in 1875.
