SYMBOLS of RUSSIA One symbol is the Russian national flag. It has three stripes: white, blue and red. These colours have always been symbolic in Russia: white – noble and sincere , blue – honest and devoted , red has always meant love and bravery. Another symbol of Russia is the birch tree.

MOSCOW is the capitаl. Chronicles first mentioned Moscow in 1147. It was a little settlement at the top of a hill looking over the Moskva river, a settlement founded by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky.
