Loch Ness ( /ˌ lɒx ˈ nɛs / ; Scottish Gaelic : Loch Nis [ l̪ˠɔx ˈ niʃ ] ) is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands it is 37 kilometres (23 miles) southwest of Inverness . Its surface is 16 metres (52 feet) above sea level . Loch Ness is best known for alleged of Loch Ness Monster , also known as "Nessie ". Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch . Its deepest point is 230 m. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined.

Each summer they invite volunteers who watch the lake. And in 1966, they installed cameras on the banks to prove 'Nessie's' existence. Other people made some photographs on the lake’s surface, but the pictures weren’t good enough to convince anyone, although a film made in 1961 convinced a lot of people that something exists in this lake. The film showed an object twenty-eight metres long, travelling at sixteen kilometers per hour.
