«Vaginy: the  village we live in»

Introduction

   We decided to take part in this project because we are proud of  our village  Vazhiny. It’s a small but beautiful   place. Our grandparents and parents were born and still live here. But  students  and teachers  of  our district  don’t  know about our native  village. We had to do a lot of work to find information about our  place. We read books, magazines, newspapers, visited our school  museum, looked through the archive documents and took pictures. Thanks to this project we can tell  you about our  Vazhiny. We are sure that  you  will like our  place  and  you  will be able to visit it one day.

Purpose: to tell  students and teachers  of our native village  Vazhiny.

Tasks:  1. to give information about nature, places of interest, famous people;

             2. to show pictures of our  native place.

Vaginy, the village that we live in

It’s small but very beautiful, we say

Its name will stay in our hearts forever

Even if we have to leave it one day.

There are many beautiful  places

Which we like and never will forget

For example, our  church

And the school with classmates we have met.

We are proud of a lot of people

Who are known all over the  region

Of  our  famous  painter  Kempi

And the bravest hero Ostashev .

Native   place! Friends, let it prosper

And we hope it will happen one day

We, the youth, the future of  our village

Will make famous its unknown name!

    We live in  Vazhiny. It is a small  place on the  Vazhinka and  the Svir rivers. It is situated in 300 km distance from Sank-Peterburg, the second  capital of  Russia and  in 15 km distance from the town Podporzhye. Vazhiny  was founded in 1960 In fact, the mention of our village meets in documents of 1563 .

    Our native  village  isn’t big but it’s nice. The nature around the village  is wonderful. The flora and the fauna here are very various. You can find fir-trees,  pine-trees and birches, aspens, alders. Such animals as bears, wolves, foxes, hares, squirrels live in the forests. There are such birds as owls, woodpeckers and wood grouses.Our village is surrounded by great forests. In summer they are rich in berries and mushrooms.

Two  streets are named after the famous people of Vaginy . They are  Ostashev Street and Trifanov  Street. There are a lot of shops in them and you can always see people walking along these  streets.

    When visitors come to Vaginy for the first time they can see the most important buildings of the village: the school, the Art school, two kindergartens, the club, the church, the   local library, the hospital.  

  We study at school №6.260 students learn in our school and 32 teachers work in it. It was founded in 1965 .We think it is the best school in our district because the school has the   most creative   teachers and new modern equipment.

Talented children can attend an Art school to learn to play different musical instruments and to paint.

The church was built in 1630 that’s why it is a great historical sight in the life of Vazhiny.

In summer lots of people have a rest. They can play different outdoor games, or they can swim and fish here.

The inhabitants and guests of our native place can visit the club, where    different festivals and concerts take place. One can also find disco here, where the youth can spend their spare time in the evenings.

 What is more, Vazhiny has one of the most fanatical sporting public. Playing table tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, skiing, boating, swimming, cycling and running are very popular in Vazhiny.

We have the memorial monument, which is called “Nobody and nothing is forgotten”. It is the great memory for our people, who took part in the World War II and we never forget our heroes.

     The population of the town is about 2640 people. We are proud of the famous people of our village. Among them are:

Vladimir  Vasilyevich Belonogov, the head of the village;

 Peter Pavlovich Levin, a former student of school№6, the head of the town  Podporozhye;

Tamara Ivanovna Savatyeva, the director of our Club and has an award “The Woman of the Year 2009” in Leningradskaya region;

  Zinaida Fyodorovna Patrenina, the first director of our school;

Lyudmila Ivanovna Molova and Elena Alexandrovna Kostuk, the directors of the kindergartens and are respected people of our village;

 Vladimir Eduardovich Kempi, the painter;

 Vera Borisovna Kempi, the journalist of the newspaper “Svirskie Ogni”.

 Vasiliy Ostashev, Andrei Trifanov,Vasiliy Rodin, Yacob Moiseenko, the veterans of the World War ll. We will remember all of them forever.

 Nowadays many people who were born in our village are well-known in our region.

We love our native place and want it to become more beautiful and more comfortable for people to live in it.

    We like our village but there are things we would like to change here. There are no theaters, cinemas and Sport Complex in our village. If we had them our cultural life would be richer. Many young people have a lot of spare time but they do not know what to do. We also think it is necessary to build more playgrounds for children to play there. And we think the young generation must be responsible for the future of our village and try to do it best.
