New Year in China Новый Год в Китае

Слайд 2

Chinese New Year , which in literal translation is called the Spring Festival , has long been the main and longest holiday in China and other countries of East Asia . The traditional New Year is timed to coincide with the winter new moon at the end of the full lunar cycle that took place after the winter solstice ( that is , on the second new moon after December 21). In the Gregorian calendar , this corresponds to one of the days between January 21st and February 21st. The Chinese spend their money on new things , that is , they buy gifts , jewelry , items , food and clothing . In addition , each family carefully cleans their homes , believing that in this way they clear their lives of any failures and make room for happiness . By the festive dinner , even those family members who work or study in other cities return home , helping themselves to various dishes ( the most common are dishes of pig , duck , chicken and numerous types of sweets and confectionery , including rice cookies nyangao ). This festive night ends with fireworks and firecrackers . In the early morning of the next day , children congratulate their parents , wishing them health and a happy New Year , and in return they receive wishes for future success and money in red paper envelopes . Unlike Western countries , greeting cards are not widely distributed in China , which are traditionally replaced by red envelopes . It is also customary to give money to colleagues in an envelope .

This holiday is celebrated in many countries of the world . In addition , there is a significant influence of this festival and its traditions on the celebration of similar New Year’s events in cultures adjacent to China ( Japanese , Korean , Mongolian , Tibetan and others ). In addition , the Lunar New Year , thanks to the spread of Chinese emigrants around the world , began to be celebrated and fulfill its cultural mission in other countries far from China . In China itself , this holiday is significant not only for Han Chinese , but also for national minorities . It is celebrated by Manchus , Yao , Zhuans , Gaoshan , Daurians , Dong , Li and other ethnic groups .
