Great Arctic Nature Reserve is the largest Eurasia’s reserve and house for polar bears. It is located in Dickson area of the Taimyr Autonomous District and was organized in 1993.

The purpose of the reserve is to preserve and study the natural state of the unique Arctic ecosystems, rare and endangered plant and animal species of the northern coast of the Taimyr Peninsula.

The cold climate of the northern Arctic affects the fauna of this region, so it is not surprising that the fauna of the Great Arctic Reserve is not rich in species. About 29 fish species, 16 mammal species and 124 bird species.
